These Are The Lebanese MPs Who Favor a Strong Anti-Tobacco Law

The list below is of 22 MPs who support a strong tobacco control law in Lebanon. They recently attended (or were represented in) a special event in AUB to examine how such a law could be implemented. They deserve our acknowledgement and support, and for that issue alone, they will get my vote (well at least those who are running in my district):

In Lebanon, What Happens In Wikileaks Stays In Wikileaks

Many of the commentators here have noticed the total lack of reaction in the “real” political world over the wikileaks revelations. It’s like they don’t exist at all. It seems as if our politicians all live in glass houses and are thinking twice before throwing stones. Each side has constructed a neat image of the other in the minds of its supporters and they all seem to be colluding in not letting wikileaks mess with that.

The International Crisis Group On The Tribunal

In an extensive report (Executive Summary | Full pdf paper ), the ICG attempts to explore the political jockeying behind the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. There’s nothing new in the report, but it serves as a good recap for everything that has been done so far. The think tank conclude that the best outcome is some kind of lose-lose settlement:

Al-Akhbar and Wikileaks

I woke up today and learned that Al-Akhbar has a lot of wikileaks documents about the STL that are supposed to embarrass many March 14 figures. I tried logging into Al-Akhbar’s website but couldn’t get in (fodder for conspiracy theorists). I’ll check them out as soon as I can, but here are some thoughts I had:
