Comments Now Limited To 420 Characters [Update: Forget About it]
December 27, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
Update: The plugin I was using to limit the comment size turned out to be malicious. So I guess we can all now blabber on endlessly. But please, blabber responsibly.
I always appreciated your input to posts in the comments. In fact, some of you add so much value to the conversation that I had to come up with comment highlighting.
But sometimes, the discussion gets out of control. People get excited and start writing diatribes and ramble on and on about minor matters, to the point that the rest of the readers lose complete interest in the conversation.
Since Beirut Spring loves people with short attention spans, I figured it would only make sense to limit the comments to 420 characters. This is the same amount of characters in 3 Twitter messages. I think this is more than enough to make any point without losing the readers’ interest.
