No, Bloggers Did Not “Snub Hariri’s Rally”

I like Antoun and I’m usually a fan of what he writes for Global Voices Online, an influential website that tells the news from the perspective of international bloggers and, most recently, social media members (Full disclosure: I was Lebanon’s Editor in GVO when it first started)

Syria’s Turn?

There’s a lot of noise on twitter about demonstrations in Syria. It would be funny if the Beirut Spring started on March 14 and the Damascus Spring starts on March 15 . Maybe then we’ll celebrate on the same day like we used to celebrate together the Army’s day? Of course not!

Is Bahrain The New Lebanon?

A tiny nation has a divided population. It has just invited a neighboring nation to intervene militarily because one of the sects feels it needs protection from the other. The other neighboring nation (which of course protects the other sect) is denouncing the “invasion” and “occupation” of the neighboring countries and is threatening to take action. This tiny country could very well plunge into civil war and drag the entire region with it into trouble.
