Does Lebanon Make One Lose Sleep?
January 23, 2012 · Mustapha Hamoui

Brooke Anderson reporting on insomnia in Lebanon:
After college, Marwan moved to Dubai, where he was able to get into a regular sleep schedule and finally started getting adequate sleep again. Now that he has moved back to Beirut, his bad sleeping patterns have quickly returned, as a result of irregular working hours and street noise outside his window.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard such stories from people who visit or return to Lebanon. Unfailingly they mention the level of stress that is palpable in the air. Insomnia in Lebanon (which has its own blog) gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “people are leaving Lebanon to achieve their dreams”
