Living With the Democratic Rise of Islamists

With Islamists winning elections all over the Arab world, it is easy to be apprehensive. But some people have decided to deal constructively with their rise and give them the benefit of the doubt.
To get into such an accepting mood, I recommend you read two articles.
- “Those who support democracy must welcome the rise of political Islam” by Waddah Khanfar the ex Aljazeera chief, who lays out the case that the west should accept political Islam as a legitimate political force in the Arab world.
- In the Shadow of the Muslim Brotherhood, a Statement by a Liberal Person (Arabic), posted in Liberalia, a leading Egyptian voice of Liberalism. The post can be seen as a manifesto of how liberals are going to constructively work with Islamists in government.
