Fear the Islamists

I must admit, the case of the veiled mermaids is a symbol of one of the main reasons I’m hesitant to buy into to Marwan Muasher’s optimism regarding the possible rule of Islamists.

When Islamists force their conservatism on public works of art or any other cultural product (cinema, music) , their opponents find it very difficult to come up with an ideological defense for such “heresy”. The voters might even support such censorship.

Should the constitutional concept of pluralism that Mr. Muasher is calling for also include the right to unhindered artistic expression?
