HSBC Begins Closing Some Lebanese Branches [Updated]

I got a tip that the one in Verdun is on its way out. It’s not like we didn’t know this was coming, but who knew this would happen so fast..

A friend sent me a letter that HSBC has sent him. Apparently, the branches at Ashrafieh and Zook will also be shut down (in addition to Verdun). That leaves us with 3 branches only: Ras Beirut, Ein el Mreisseh and Dora.

There is word that they’re planning to open a branch in northern lebanon, but it is still not confirmed and I personally have my doubts. If that were true, they’d be advertising it left and right considering they don’t have any presence in the north and considering that they need to offset the bad news of closing branches with the good news of opening new ones..
