Syria’s “Ramadan Massacre”
July 31, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui
Activists are trying to trend the hashtag #RamadanMassacre on Twitter. If you have a Twitter account, please do take part of this. Twitter trending topics are a great way of increasing international awareness of important events.
What is happening is that the Syrian regime has decided to make a big “push” against the demonstrators before Ramadan, so they’re killing people left and right. The day is still young and the reports are already of hundreds of bodies lying on the streets.
This is an act of unforgivable brutality. But it’s also an act of desperation. The backlash this will generate could very well spell the end of the Assad regime..
