The Daily Star on Lebanon’s system of sectarian quotas for government positions:

This is the rotten core of Lebanon’s political fruit, a fundamental hurdle barring genuine meritocracy and a continuing potential catalyst for chaos in the least and violence at most. One of the reasons proffered at the start of the war, even back in 1975, was the demands made by one sect for better political representation. […] It would be best if genuine progress is made toward sidelining this divisive and outdated way of thinking

I’ll go out on a limb and say that this Lebanese problem will never be fixed.
