Bleak Outlook for Assad Regime

Haaretz:

The regime of Syrian leader Bashar Assad will not survive and will eventually collapse under the pressure of demonstrations in his country. This is the assessment of Israel’s military establishment — and this view is gaining strength.

Remember, in these situations perception is everything. If people were convinced that Assad will eventually fall, the calculus of all parties will change. Hezbollah will start thinking of a serious plan B, the Jumblats and Berris of the world will start U-Turning. Senior figures in the regime will start secret talks with the state department offering help in return for amnesty, and most importantly, the morale of the demonstrators will get a boost..
