Hezbollah in a Lose-Lose Over Syria?
May 24, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui
[Hezbollah] knows that no matter what happens, it will have to pay a big price. If the regime falls, Hezbollah and Iran will lose their only Arab ally […] and its political agenda will be hampered to a great extent. Even if the regime survives for a while, they might be sacrificed by Assad, who may try to show good intentions to the West in an attempt to protect himself.
Hanin focuses on Hezbollah’s PR problems, but to me the biggest risk to Lebanon is how a freaking out Hezbollah will behave. Some are saying that it will abandon all pretenses of playing along the Lebanese system and have an outright military power grab of its institutions.
