Sometimes The Best Thing To Say Is Nothing

May 10, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

A good insight from Hussein Ibish on the role of analysts during crises like the one in Syria:

sometimes the only honest and intelligent thing to say is very little, or even nothing […] There is a lot that can and has been usefully written about Syria, including backgrounders on key regime or opposition figures, and historical context. But the situation is so murky and fluid that a sustained or serious analysis is practically impossible

Very true. And by the way, this is also March 14’s official position on Syria.
