Tony Saghbini on the inglorious implosion of the anti-sectarian movement:

In the end, it’s obvious that the campaign to bring down the sectarian system in Lebanon achieved what the sectarian system itself could not achieve: It captured a once-in-a-lifetime, historic moment in the Arab world, grabbed the excitement of a large section of the Lebanese youth and then threw everything away into the sea.
Through its inexisting strategic vision, the revolution raised an empty, sterile slogan that can’t in practice be translated into political, economic or social action. It then mobilized efforts in that direction and squandered everything away
