Spare Us The Geagea Hate

March 14, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Seif makes a good point about the LF’s leader being constantly singled out for hate:

If you are a Palestinian who got offended I said I loved his speech because he is a “murderer”, I want you to be fair.[…] the Palestinians in Lebanon have the blood of hundreds and hundreds of Lebanese on their hands — Muslim and Christian. If you are a Sunni Muslim who got offended because of it — our Mourabitoun (Sunni Militia during the Civil War) has the blood of Christians on their hands as well. If you are a Aounist who got offended, Aoun bombed Zahle and surrounding towns for 27 days non stop, killing over 145 of his fellow Lebanese. If you are a Shiite — Amal and Hezballah massacred each other in Da7yeh, South Lebanon, and Baalbek during the war. If you are a Druze who n2akhad 3a khatro from my tweet then I want to remind you of the thousands of displaced Christians from the Chouf who are still not allowed to return, they still cannot build Churches, and whats worse they were raped, butchered, and left for the dogs (literally) during the war. Yes and this applies to Kataeb and Lebanese Forces who did just as much war crimes — if not more. The point? Every single one of our “leaders” has blood on their hands. Every single one of them murdered, raped, and hurt this nation… not Samir Geagea alone. So to constantly attack him because of those things is invalid and hypocritical… all leaders played a role.

The irony is that Geagea is the only one who actually served time for his crimes while all the rest sloshed about in riches and power.

So why is Geagea always singled out as a “murderer”? Let’s call this the conspiracy of Aounists, March 8 and left-wing western journalists. That latest group is the most interesting, because to them if Muslims kill each other, that’s their “culture” and “we shouldn’t interfere in their affairs”, but when Christians start killing Muslims, their sense of guilt kicks into high gear and they start blaming local Christians for all the ills of this region, as if they were something they should show the world they were ashamed of.

Back to Geagea. I know many, many Sunni Muslims who currently admire him and even prefer him over Saad Hariri because he’s the only one who didn’t equivocate against Hezbollah’s tyranny. Many people in Tripoli log in to Lebanese-forces.com to get their news before any other outlet. Those people don’t care if you say that “Geagea is a murderer”. In fact they take pleasure from it, because in it they hear the sound of a Aounist eating his heart out.
