Hariri Coming To Tripoli

March 7, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

This is going to be interesting. Tripoli is becoming an important battleground for the Future Movement considering the fierce competition the Tripoli billionaires are waging.

Mr. Hariri’s aim of the visit is to show that, in Lebanon sectarian speak, he “owns” the Sunni street. This will be demonstrated in two ways: 1) In the kind of reception he gets to the city (which will inevitably be contrasted to Mikati’s recent visit), and 2) in the amount of people he will manage to turn out from the city on March 13.
