Blaming Aoun

February 21, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Dodging blame for the stalemate:

An unnamed March 8 source said Speaker Nabih Berri informed Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati that the Shia sect will not be an obstructive factor for forming a cabinet, and that he and Hezbollah will help him form the new government

Translation: blame that nutjob.

There is talk that Syria is behind Aoun’s intransigence. But don’t believe anyone who tells you they know the truth about which foreign power backs which Lebanese leaders. Sometimes politics really are just local.
