Hezbollah Getting Impatient With Pace Of Saudi Syrian Talks

December 1, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

Hezbollah’s No 2 Naim Kassem wants thing to move quicker or else:

“The the post-indictment phase is completely different from the pre-indictment phase,” Qassem told the Lebanese daily Al-Balad. “All options are conceivable.”
Qassem said all indicators prove that the indictment would be issued “very soon” and hoped that mediation efforts led by Saudi Arabia and Syria would “materialize in the near future.”
“If we don’t take advantage of the opportunities currently made available to us we will face a new scenario,” he added, without elaborating.

This sounds like a threat. But a threat to whom? To his Lebanese opponents? They’re not the ones sitting on that table. Is it a threat to Saudi Arabia or Syria?

Keep in mind that Hezbollah’s restlessness is not irrational. There’s a big incentive for the opposite camp to play for time and wait for the indictment. They could very well be negotiating “in bad faith” to kill time.
