Getting Ready For Erdogan

November 24, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

Mustaqbal M.P. Ammar El Houri rejected comparisons between Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon and Erdogan’s visit (a comparison I have made myself yesterday) as “foolish”.

Of course he’ll say that. He’s not going to say that a popular Sunni leader will be dragged to a populous Sunni Area in the north of Lebanon (Akkar! When was the last time a foreign leader went to Akkar?) to create crowds similar to those the popular Iranian Shiaa leader has created in the south.

He’s not going to say that the politics of Lebanon require every now and then a show of Sunni popular muscle to counter the impression that Hezbollah is the party with the most support among the Lebanese people.

Mr. Houri chose instead to play the politician and insult our intelligence.

I leave you with these pictures of the preparations for Mr. Erdogan’s visit (of course these need not remind you of anything)
