On Ghajar, Lebanon Got Outmaneuvered By Israel

November 20, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

The Daily Star’s Editorial hits the nail on the head:

Lebanese politicians scream constantly to get back land occupied by Israel. Israel has called their bluff. Whereas this country’s leaders should convene and demonstrate that they are serious and can handle the return of their land, instead they have shown only a total absence of planning, strategy or consensus — and shown that Lebanon is merely a bystander as its fate unfolds.

It was funny watching Lebanese officials reacting the Ghajar affair. Some claimed it was a trick because nobody was officially notified from the Lebanese side, some decided to change the subject by focusing on Israeli evil, while others were visibly confused about what to think of the situation.
