More Arguing For The Israelification Of American Airports

November 20, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

Michael Totten:

The [Israeli] system has its advantages, though, aside from the fact that no one looks or reaches into anyone’s pants. Israelis don’t use security theater to make passengers feel like they’re safe. They use real security measures to ensure that travelers actually are safe. Even when suicide bombers exploded themselves almost daily in Israeli cities, not a single one managed to get through that airport.

I’m not usually one to believe in conspiracies, but the ubiquity of the “American airports should be more like Israeli airports” articles is just fishy. Why not look at British security measures? Didn’t they too have to deal with terrorists for a long time? What about Egyptian or Chinese security measures? Why are Israeli security procedures promoted so relentlessly in American newspapers and media? It just feels like someone somewhere wants to sell Israeli equipment and Israeli training to American airports.
