Hezbollah today dictates the definition of resistance as if they own it. They see resistance as an armed struggle against only one enemy, and pay no attention to how we as Lebanese resist any number of forces, including Hezbollah themselves, in our everyday lives. […] Hezbollah decides who resists and why. To fight and have access to weapons, you need to be a Shia Hezbollah member, trained in Iran and ready to become a martyr as you fight Israel.
By hogging the word “Resistance”, Hezbollah has made some clever branding acrobatics where criticizing the party becomes akin to criticizing a country’s resistance against an aggressive power.
