Yet another “make Washington care about Lebanon” article, this time by Bilal Saab for Foreign Affairs:
The United States cannot afford to repeat its hands-off approach to Lebanon. The maintenance of Beirut’s independence and sovereignty upholds U.S. strategic interests in the Middle East by denying U.S. adversaries — such as Iran and Syria — the ability to exploit Lebanon to improve their positions in the region.
