A “creative idea”

Ari Shavit on solving the stalemate over the Israeli settlements:

Here’s a creative idea. In exchange for freezing construction in the West Bank for 60 days, the U.S. will renew the commitment President Bush made in his April 2004 letter. […] It consists of a vague commitment that when peace is made, the settlement blocs will remain in Israel’s hands and the Palestinian refugees will not return to Israel.

Yeah, that’s the ticket. Let’s kill the right of return for refugees so that the Israelis can freeze settlement building. Settlements that they’ll eventually keep of course.

No wonder he’s calling this a win-win solution.
