“Routine Update”

The American Embassy in Beirut:

An updated Travel Warning for Lebanon is being drafted and is expected to be released in the coming days, in line with the requirement to update such warnings every six months.

I wonder if it’s common practice for American embassies to announce in advance that they will update their travel warnings and make sure you know that they’re “routine” updates.

My bet is they’re being sensitive to the firestorm caused recently when Al-Akhbar wrote that the Americans are warning their citizens against travelling to Lebanon, which forced the embassy to make a strong public denial.
