How To Read The Daily Star Clutter Free

I often get people asking me to stop linking to the Daily Star because their pages are too difficult to read (‘too many moving parts’, as one reader puts it). But in fact, there’s a great way to read their articles in a very distraction-free environment.

Here’s how it’s done

Step 1: With your mouse, drag this link to your bookmarks bar above → ( Readability )

Step 2: Open any Daily Star article. Here’s my favorite ;)

Step 3: After the page loads, click on the “readability” bookmark. The one we dragged step 1. Important: You have to click on the bookmark while you’re on the Daily Star’s page

Step 4: Wait 5 seconds for the magic to happen

Step 5: Ta-daaa

If you want more details, what we used is called a ‘bookmarklet’, which is a bookmark that does a script on the page you’re on. I did not invent Readability of course, it was created by Arc90 Labs. I found it to be better than its competitors when it comes to the Daily Star (namely Apple Safari’s reader and Instapaper’s text conversion tool)
