Gebran Bassil Will Be The FPM’s Next Leader
September 14, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
He got the Assad treatment:
President Bashar al-Assad on Monday reviewed with Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Gobran Bassil situation in the Lebanese arena and the development of the Syrian-Lebanese relations. Bassil hailed Syria’s exerted efforts to maintain security and stability in Lebanon.
Some people will protest and say that the FPM has bylaws and regulations for choosing their leaders. But I call BS. General Aoun has been working hard in the last few years to raise Mr. Bassil’s profile. If Mr. Bassil “hails syria’s efforts to maintain security and stability in Lebanon” He’s preparing to be the FPM’s next leader (and, he hopes, a future Lebanese president).
