Iran “Ready” To Sell Arms To Lebanon
August 26, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
Iranian Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi:
Lebanon is our friend, If there is a demand in this respect, we are ready to help that country and conduct weapons transactions with it.
Don’t be fooled by this showmanship. Iran wants the Lebanese to know that it’s “ready” to arm their army, but it prefers not to actually make that step.
Arming Hezbollah alone is a sensitive political topic in Iran, as people think it is a waste of government money, especially now with the UN’s crippling sanctions. Showing that Iran is ready to stand by Lebanon is a cheap propaganda trick that Arab countries have been using for a while.
