Al-Manar: Future Movement Shot At The Palestinians In Beddawi

July 1, 2007 · Mustapha Hamoui

It’s a good thing normal people don’t watch Hezbollah’s Almanar, or I would have been concerned by the effect of this blatant misinformation..

Syria is very angry with Lebanon’s Sunnis, a sect it used to take for granted before.

It blames it all on the Future Movement, a movement founded by the late Rafic Hariri on the tenets of education, development, excellence, tolerance and the love of life… Hariri’s road to power was built on educating thousands of Lebanese of all religious affiliations and rebuilding Beirut into the proud and prosperous city that it has become. Future TV was the first station in Lebanon which didn’t care about race or religion in selecting its staff.

But that image doesn’t suite the Syrians. This is why it has embarked for some time now on a large campaign via its puppets in Lebanon and their useful idiots to discredit the very movement standing in its way. A wishful experience to see if the culture of death and intolerance can trump the culture of life and openness.

First they ridiculously claimed, helped by irresponsible western Journalists, that the Future movement funded Sunni salafist Islamist terrorists to counterbalance the Shia Hezbollah. Never mind that such stupid sponsorship would be akin to suicide. Now, Hezbollah is busy brainwashing its people, via its Iranian funded TV station, that Future movement members are nothing but thugs with guns, shooting at helpless Palestinians.

The screen I captured above from Almanar’s website betrays their true agenda: On top of the news where they claim that the Future Movement was behind the Beddawi accident, on the revolving ticker, there is a statement (circled in green) by Fathi Yakan, an obscure Sunni cleric whose own wife didn’t vote for when he stood for elections in Tripoli, saying that “The Lebanese Sunnis need to rebel against their status quo”..

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is the real Syrian scheme..
