Beirut Electoral Map

Here’s a comparison I found at Blogging Beirut between the 2000 and the 2008 electoral laws for Beirut. As you can notice, the changes are obviously aimed at Mr. Hariri by lumping most of the Sunnis in one district and carving 2 smaller districts for minorities:

Here’s a map that shows the districts of the 1960s electoral law that will be used for the next general elections in Lebanon.

The FPM’s Point Of View

Here’s how Antoine Hindi, an FPM (Aounist) reader of this site sees thing:

One party wants to unzip their new site open while the other prefers to tear off the cover. Isn’t competition a wonderful thing? Say what you want about the Lebanese Christians, but they seem to be the only ones engaged in [...]

Aoun: March 14 defectors Will Join Us Soon

Rattled by his own defections, the Rabieh General decides to bamboozle us.

Lebanese Law To Abolish censorship And Set Up An Independent ‘Committee of Wise Men’

Our minister of culture appears to be planning an ambitious law against the “outdated practice” of censorship…
A lot on his mind…
…Or so he told Rana Moussaoui of the AFP, at the end of a lengthy-yet-interesting article about censorship in Lebanon. (Excerpt: “Lebanese society is too steeped in religion to accept attacks on the sacred,” said [...]
