Justin Martin asks: “Amid Arab Spring fires, why isn’t Lebanon in flames?”.. It’s all about our stable political system, he says, and how we can handle protests without tearing each others’ heads off. I hope the guy didn’t just jinx my summer..

Syria’s Evil Children
For some strange reason, there are children in Syria who are born as fundamental Islamists. This happens only in Syria. Why do Syrian mothers give birth to children like these? What is Syria’s secret?
What’s the matter with Mr. Saghiyeh? Of course Syrian children are not fundamentalists! They are collaborators with Americans and Zionists bent on destroying Syrian society and resistance..
Ladies Nights, Happy Hours.. No Smoking Nights?
Not yet, but apparently that is the ultimate objective of the “Ain’t No Smoking Nights”:
At least 40 pubs and restaurants will go smoke free in the busy Gemmayzeh bar district Tuesday, as the “Ain’t No Smoking” campaign rolls out its long-anticipated third installment Tuesday.
I’m not sure how I feel about this movement. On one hand, I appreciate the gradualist logic of slowly getting people used to no smoking in bars. On the other , I’m afraid that no-smoking days will become a substitute for the smoking ban law.
Besides, There’s a reason why this event is happening only once a year: If 40 bars decided to take part of the event and one bar in the neighborhood stayed out, that bar will have much better business than all the rest. This creates an incentive for the others to cheat and in the end the dominance of smoking reasserts itself.
There is no substitute for a total ban, if only to make the playing field more fair.
Ben Ali’s Wife Kept Money In A Lebanese Bank
Go ahead. Take a guess: Which Lebanese bank will a foreign dictator’s wife choose to deposit more than $ 25 Million in with no questions asked?
Berri Criticizes The Cedar Revolution
The Cedar Revolution took us 60 years back, led to the spending of public funds, increased national debt and favored the atmosphere for more foreign interference
There are so many responses to this that I won’t bother playing along. To me the irony is this: The moment I stopped liking the Cedar revolution is the exact moment they decided to choose Nabih Berri to stay on as speaker of parliament.
