More Leaks. Murr Comes Out As an Evil, Evil Man.

The following is so shocking I really don’t know what to think. Nicholas Noe (an expert with anti-March 14 leanings) references April 1 cables and highlights some parts which are very damning of Elias Murr:

- He called Palestinians “Dirty People”
- He stoked inter-palestinian fightings in Lebanese Camps.
- He deliberately reduced the Percentage of Shiaas in the Military

Read the details here. But remember, those are April 1st cables. Perhaps they are Wikileaks’ idea of an April fool joke?

The Daily Star Too Has Exclusive Wikileaks

Move over Al-Akhbar, The Daily Star has wikileaks goodies to share too:

Intercepted confidential US Embassy correspondences – seen exclusively by The Daily Star – paint a picture of an investigation plagued by bureaucracy, poor management and staff shortages.

The Daily Star has obtained a tranche of cables sent from the US Embassy in Beirut to the US State Department over a period of several years. They reveal allegations of political duplicity, external meddling in domestic affairs and scathing assessments of both Lebanese and international officials.

They write about the leaked cables but they don’t show us the originals. I wonder if this is a continuation of the Daily Star‘s “no linking” policy.

The Saudi Ambassador Is Underplaying This Whole S-S Thing

Remember how the discussions between the Syrians and the Saudis are supposed to be the last bulwark against chaos in Lebanon? How their entire purpose was to contain the hell-on-earth that would emerge in the case of an STL indictement against Hezbollah?

Then why is the Saudi ambassador in Lebanon going around telling newspapers that “There is no Saudi-Syrian initiative for a solution. There are suggestions” (can somebody please explain to me the difference between initiative and suggestions?) , and that the talks have nothing to do with the indictment?. I thought that the indictment was the whole purpose of the talks.

It seems the Syria-Saudi negotiations are fizzling. It is unclear if this has anything to do with Washington being recently active on the STL front. But it will be interesting to watch (impatient) Hezbollah’s reaction to that.
