Good to know that this is now being enforced:
foreign men who have been married to a Lebanese woman for over a year, and their children, can benefit from a “courtesy” residency according to a decree law issued in May 31, 2010
But the fact that people are being urged to benefit of this window of opportunity shows that this is not by any mean a permanent solution. As for “Courtesy Residency”, it’s a term that I’ll gladly bundle with “Civil Union” and “Honorary Doctorate” as sloppy consolation prizes that will never be proper alternatives to the real stuff..

I read the qarar but there was nothing mentioning whether or not they can work and what rights their children get… do you know if there is anything about that?
and thanks in advance
Lebanese women are beautiful, so any courtesy beyond just being married to one would be a bonus.
Well, it’s better than nothing
As one of those husbands, I’d be interested in reading the law. Where can I find it?
Google brought up Beirut Spring and the Daily Star…
Does this mean I don’t have to live in the garden shed anymore?
children of lebanese women benefit from the courtesy residency too.
