Some Weapons Are Holier Than Others

Unsurprisingly, a Hezbollah M.P. has given special status to Hezbollah’s weapons by calling for the disarming of all factions except for “the resistance.”

History taught us again and again that arms beget more arms, except when held by the legitimate central authority. Even if we do trust Hezbollah and their general struggle, that doesn’t mean that we can trust their rank-and-file elements, who are after all humans who can succumb to the temptations of power such weapons can provide.

If you have an RPG in your trunk, you’re more likely to aggressively demand a premium parking space from a defenseless layman.

Plus there is no argument whatsoever to justify the carrying of arms, designed to fight Israel, in Beirut.

Update: Now Lebanon has an opinion piece on the statements made by the above-mentioned Hezbollah MP and is worth the read.

  1. Actually, that is not what happened. The Ahbash guy(s) shot the two members of Hizbollah.

Hizbollah uses their weapons for defense only, and I think that has been proven over and over again.

Some people are just too blind to see the timeline of events.

  2. I don’t know what an RPG or personal guns can do to an Israeli airplane!!!

If they really want to figh Israel, why don’ they go to the South?

  3. M, I did not say that this is what happened in that particular incident, I’m just saying that people with guns are usually tempted to be bullies, even if their organization has high ideals.

    Gk, ditto.

  4. They are in south.

Israel is not able to enter Beirut from the sea, or at least will have a hard time doing it because Hezbollah has weapons there. Plus, experience showed that there are israeli spies and agents in Beirut.

  5. My betting is for the weapons to be used to settle individual scores, equip sides in gang fights, and all out civil war long before they get used to actually defend the homeland. As GK is pointing out the chances are pretty good for the Israelis to use airpower since the primary purpose will probably not be for occupation.

  6. Yes, yes, M, not only are there Israeli spies in Beirut, they’re ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. In fact, there are no Lebanese in Lebanon! Only Israeli spies. Oh, and of course, Iranian and Syrian spies, proxies and agents as well!!!

As for you Party of Thugs, YOU AND YOUR ILK are the ones who need remove your blinders. I have decided to give Orwell’s 1984 as a gift to every Hezbollah votary I meet. Please send me an address you’d like the book mailed to. And let’s not forget, in your people’s warped universe:

    WAR IS PEACE
    FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
    IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

    and

In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy.

And when memory failed and written records were falsified—when that happened, the claim of the Party to have improved the conditions of human life had got to be accepted, because there did not exist, and never again could exist, any standard against which it could be tested.

Thank you for keeping this madness going, and may you live long and prosper (idiots)!!

  7. Yes, israeli spies are all over the country and in different sectors, even the public sector. You can check different websites for the numbers and names. Or you have not heard?

But, that does not mean that there are no Lebanese in Lebanon!

Comparing Iran to israel is stupid, because Iran did not commit massacres in Qana and Beirut and other places.

As for Syria, you can check Rafik Hariri quotes about it.

Anyway, your comment is full of hatred and disrespect, which is the same attitude of the people who shot the Hezbollah guys in burj abi haidar.

I guess if a hezbollah supporter or even a hezbollah look-alike or someone has different political views from yours, try to park near your building, you will shoot and kill.

The problem is in this types of attitudes full of hate and grudge and trying to use intellectual terrorism to create an unjustified fear.

this kind of attitude burned the country more than once, lets hope it does not do it again.

The arguments are counter-productive, so, live with your hate and do whatever you can do.

So, instead of shooting Hezbollah members, then demanding to disarm them and spread hatred between Lebanese sects, try to stop the Israeli invasion of Lebanese skies.

  8. M,

Keep hiding your head in the sand. Your thugs were shot down by their allies who were armed by Syria as opposed to Iran. Your thugs did infact start the fight; its just that their ego made it easy for them to be killed first. Your thugs eventually burned down a mosque.

Check the news. In the last 4 years not one single bullet was fired by Hezbollah against Israel whereas hundreds of RPG missiles were launched against army personnel and civilians in Beirut. You support a terrorist organization that has repeatedly wrecked havoc on Lebanon, and continues to use its tactics of threat and blackmail. Your thugs are worse than the Israelis, because the Israelis have no problem announcing their ill-intentions against Lebanon. You on the other hand, behave in this typically Persian manner of sleeziness. The Islamic Republic of Iran might not have committed massacres in Qana, but it has done so in Iran itself, and in Iraq, and continues to export its terrorist agenda to countries of the region.

Finally, you are in absolutely no position to talk about fear mongering. Every action that does not agree with your terrorist organization’s “divine” doctrine is brandished as an Israeli attack on the “resistance”. You support a sectarian, terrorist, organization that protects theives, murderers, and drug dealers and uses its weapons to blackmail and shut down any opposition.

With the exception of Israel, your thugs are the worst thing that has ever happened to this country.
