Yours Truly Profiled In The Daily Star

My profile was part of a Daily Star feature about blogging in Lebanon, which included separate profiles of three bloggers, Maya, Imad and yours truly.

While I want to thank Emma Gatten for her very thorough interview, I couldn’t help but notice an odd little detail: In all three profile pieces, Mine, Maya’s and Imad’s, there was not a single mention of the names of our blogs, respectively “Beirut Spring”, “Maya’s Amalgam” and “Trella’s Blog” (plus no mention of our web addresses or even links in their website to our blogs).

Of course, as you know, I’ve always been critical of the Daily Star, but even I wouldn’t suggest that they are intentionally editing out our blogs’ names and URLs. It’s not like they’re feeling threatened or anything.

  1. You know what they say:
“Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence”

  2. I noticed it too when I was reading the article this morning. I have to agree with Pat – there’s only so much you can expect from the Daily Star.

  3. That was my first reaction too. But then the names of the blogs is conspicuously absent from ALL THREE profile pieces. A hell of a coincidence don’t you think? Especially considering that in all three blogs, the names are rather distinctive and unique.

If someone reads that piece about me and wanted to check out my blog. There’s no way for her except to google my full name, which I never linked to my blog. Anyway, I’ll cut them some slack and I’m grateful for their profile..

  4. I agree! How stupid is that! “Hey let’s write an article about bloggers, but leave out their url’s!” Not cool..but who cares..you still get 1200 views a day! And that my friend, is an amazing accomplishment! CONGRATS! I hope to achieve that someday. :)

  5. Thanks Danielle, :)
I’ve been around for 5 years, so the 1200 viewers amount to less than 1 new reader every day ,
I’m sure you’ll get there one day!
