Lebanese blogger Liliane was there:
When the nice lead member of Gorillaz mentioned that they’re very happy to be performing in Lebanon, everyone WOOOOOOed… then immediately afterwords he said and happy to perform in Syria as well (trying to convey how happy they are that the Gorillaz are in the Middle East for the first time), people BOOOOOOed…. I was really really really ashamed. And to think the name of the song is White Flag, how ironic.
Ironic Indeed
.

Hello, my name is Mustapha and I've been blogging about Lebanese society, business and politics since February 2005.
indeed shameful. but to be fair, when he thanked the orchestra, people cheered. i think it was then the audience realized their presence in the back. but yet again, one would expect some more tolerate spirit from more-than-average people there? but i think i was mistaken by assuming this.
When is this anger and grudge will ever go out of the hear of some of the Lebanese…? I relaized that some people can’t live without anger and badness ….I am sure they are suffering from that…
I like Lebanese people; I actually have Lebanese family members, I don’t dare; however to speak Arabic when I’m in Beirut, if people in the street find out I’m Syrian they would give me hard times…
A Lebanese once told me, in English of course, that when he worked at Starbucks in Hamra, him and the rest of the staff spitted in Syrian-speaking customers’ coffees!!!
I don’t think I deserve that treatment from a fellow human; that I haven’t participated in any war against any other human being…
Hey Syrian,
If what your Lebanese friend told you is true, then it would be horrible.
But I think he’s telling a big fat lie. In Starbucks, they make your coffee in front of you, and there’s no chance in hell for their baristas to spit in your coffee because everyone, including his supervisors and the customers will be watching.
