don’t cringe too much, or cringe first at the sight of the french flag for what they have done to algerians, or the german flags for what they have done to europe etc..
Fadi, your eloquent moral cowardice and historical amnesia baffle. The French in Algeria!!! Ahh the mindless latching onto the charlatanry of post-colonialism and faulty third-worldist narratives.
Does it ever occur to you to condemn what Algerians themselves (the FIS and others) have done to their own before pointing fingers at the hated French colonials? (100,000s murdered at the hands of Algerians)?? How about the horrors Palestinians do unto Palestinians? the brutality of Iraqis against other Iraqis? (and I’m NOT talking of US-occupied Iraq, I’m talking of Saddam’s killing-fields and mass graves in Halapcha and elsewhere..) How about what the Syrians, Palestinians, and Hezbollah types have been doing to Lebanon since before you were born?
I second Mustapha and Lebanon’s Armenians’ stand. Besides, Lebanon’s flag trumps ALL others in my book. But still I would wave France’s flag ANYDAY when the alternative is Turkey, Iran, Hezbollah, and the rest of the riff-raff…
I stand in unison with armenians when it comes to mourn what they went thru, but c’mon don’t get too carried away, it wasn’t Hezbollah or Iran who have had a bloody colonial past and who robbed natives of their ressources for centuries

Oh, I’m sorry Fadi, Hezballah is not doing a colonist’s bidding in Lebanon, is it? (we call quislings like them “native informants” in our silly post-colonialist literature.)
And a little refresher if I may, the Arabs invented colonialism and the repression, fleecing, exploitation, persecution, and erasure of indigenous populations that it entailed; from the Levant, to North Africa, to Persia, to the Indian sub-continent, and all the way to Europe!!!! So, please, spare me your sanctimonious selective condemnation of “Western” colonialism, and look at the nasties committed by your Arab consumate “victims”. And btw, Arab colonialism (and dreams of world-domination) continues to this day. Basta!
