Future Movement Press Release..

Plain Talking

I received this release from a high-ranking source in the Future Movement. It makes an analogy between Hezbollah’s invasion of Beirut and Israel’s in 2006

In 1982 Sharon’s army invaded Beirut …
In 2008, Nasrallah’s army invaded Beirut !

In 1982 the Israeli army oppressed the media…
In 2008, the Persian army oppressed the media!

In 2006 Nasrallah said that had he known that the kidnapping of 2 Israeli soldiers would prompt this reaction he would not have done it…
In 2008, Nasrallah didn’t forgive 2 decisions taken by the government!

In 2006 Israel used brutal force to counter an act of military resistance,
In 2008, Hizbullah used brutal force to counter an act of political resistance!

In 2006 Israel vetoed the condemnation of Israel ’s use of military force,
In 2008 Syria vetoed the condemnation of Hizbullah’s use of military force!

…and the analogy goes on!

We knew it all along: Hezbollah is turning into Israel. One more step and the analogy will be complete: A divine victory against Hezbollah.

  1. This is cute and I guess some PR is better than no PR.

However, we cannot have a rational discussion on anything in Lebanon because everything is made to resolve around the Israeli bugaboo.

This is stupid and self-defeating, so now we are back to “I am more anti-Israel” than you, and you are more like Israel than me, and the one who wins get to keep their weapons and to trample on the state.

That is exactly how we went to hell with the PLO and now with Hezbtizi.

Prop up the law and state regardless of Israel or keep eating shit forever.

  2. Amen Josey Wales

come on this is silly PR..I mean if people get touched by such analogies, I am really very pessimistic about any prospect for solution.

There was an attack on the state: No need for any Israel analogy, it will back fire especially when you are using it against a group whose raison d’ etre is fighting Israel. Do not do the same spinning of the same line for the last 60 years that the Palestenians did comparing Israel to Nazi Germany..it leads no where..You need action, concrete action, and no that does not mean go kill the Shia or continue with sectarian istigations
    there are facts:
A sect feels unrepresented in the state, a large one for that matter and unfortunately with weapons. That is what you need to work on. Sitting in the serail and pretending u did not see the millions demonstrating in the streets 2 years ago was not an enlightened decision.
Sometimes small concessions can lead to more gain in the long run..so what if the goverment was expanded 2 years ago..Siniora would still have had the upper hand..but no, there is a decision an international decision to finish up HA..we know as lebanese people no side in lebanon can be the winner, not for long, that is the way things are, IT JUST BECOMES PERPETUAL WAR..we need to solve this by making concessions just small ones, and then proceed to assimilate in the state and slowly finish HA and any armed group outside the army.
We need wise leadership, not stupidity..sorry but I am really fed up
so “divine victory”, you are admitting now this was a divine victory after you spent the last 2 years posting on how it was not..
Israel analogies, why to play on people who are gullible for this..to recruit arab combatants that are qua’idesque..we do not need this..

  3. Mostafa, I have always followed your blog, I used to wonder why you never wrote about what is happening in Palestine , crimes and killing from the Israeli army, then I figured it is a lebanese blog why write about something else.
I am sure that you heard about the crime that happened in Akkar by the Future movement , brutally killing 11 of the SSNP men, and that is in Lebanon???
Lets say that the SSNP or the HA did this crime against the future movement , killing 11 of them in a cold blood what would you do???
    Thanks

  4. Israel is a country that has been threatened by events in Lebanon.

    So, apparently, is Hezbollahland.

This analogy just keeps on giving.

  5. As Josey Wales says:

  6. Very childish is all I can say. A high-ranking member you say . . . don’t they have better things to do?

    Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2008, 12:45 pm
  7. if I may disagree with most of you.

In my opinion this analogy serves to consolidate the “Hezbollah is as bad as Israel” message in the minds of many Lebanese arabists and Arab observers who still have a soft spot for Hezbollah that needs to be addressed…

remember, many members of the FM are ex Arabists in the traditional sense (ie defined by the rivalry with Israel)

    Posted by Mustapha | May 13, 2008, 1:04 pm
  8. it’s perhaps a shame then that this analogy is needed.

    Posted by Suzanne | May 13, 2008, 1:13 pm
  9. Right Muss,

But what I am saying is that the thinking you allude to (Arabism) is bankrupt and has led to many a catastrophe.

Even stupid Saniora believes the Arabist crap with the results before our eyes (from his bayan wizari to his ch6 UN resolution to when the Palis shot at the army years ago: no military action will be taken he said).

With respect to Sahar and Nadim Munla blabbing about Future TV being the first to cover the Israeli invasion and being supportive of Hezbo: think Hezbo gives a shit?

PLO memories anyone?? Oh we helped you! And we gave you weapons and you meanies forgot all about it. Boohooo cry me a river.

These morons and their thinking need to be attacked head on, or else all sides are peddling the same bankrupt basis that is at the root of the vicious circle.

I hope you can see that, otherwise we’re in even deeper trouble.

Bottom line: it’s illegal and unacceptable for the airport to be shut down. If you’re the state, do your fucking job without any further reference to Olmert and Zionism for crying out loud.

As to those who need convincing with Israeli references, to hell with them. I repeat: They are the problem, their frigging idiotic thinking sank us the last 60 years.

    Posted by JoseyWales | May 13, 2008, 1:26 pm
  10. @mustapha,.. “Aussie Dave” from Israellycool.com found a similar analogy. I’ll quote his post:

During the Arab League conference discussing the latest turmoil in Lebanon, the Saudi Foreign Minister could not resist dragging Israel into the discussion.

“(Hizbullah leader Hassan) Nasrallah is like (former Israeli Prime Minister) Ariel Sharon * – they both invaded Beirut,” Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal said during a recent Arab League conference in Cairo on the sectarian violence in Lebanon.”

Leaving aside the fact that Israel captured Beirut to drive out the PLO (which had been launching terrorist attacks from Lebanon) while Hizbullah’s agenda is very different, Al-Faisal’s statement once again shows the Arab fixation with Israel, even when Israel is not involved.

By the way, in case you were wondering:

“The Arab League eventually decided that it would try to mediate between the rival factions in Lebanon but did not condemn Hizbullah.”

    Posted by Suzanne | May 13, 2008, 1:27 pm
  11. So…

Israel is useful as a reminder to the Arab World that this conflict is not all about Israel.

    I get it.

  12. Hezbollah isn’t Persian. They’re Lebanese.

The reason your “movement” fails is because it’s based on lies; lies which Lebanese see right through.

By the way, people from Northern Europe have red hair. People from our region have black hair. Why does the female Future TV anchor have to use chemicals to make herself look like she’s from Northern Europe? She looks like a fool, with her “red” hair and dark Lebanese skin. As foolish as this press release.

    Posted by Abdul | May 13, 2008, 2:08 pm
  13. Ooohhh! Hizbullah is Israel, that must be it! Yeah, and Hizb was allowed to invade Beirut because Israel permitted them to!

Why should Lebanese name their pets after the Jewish State? Because then they can roll up their newspaper and thwack Israel! What a great way to let off steam. Riskless, too!

  14. “I am sure that you heard about the crime that happened in Akkar by the Future movement , brutally killing 11 of the SSNP men, and that is in Lebanon???

You don’t understand Mustapha. He’s disingenuous.

  15. This goes to show what stuff these “high-ranking” members are made of. Another argument against nepotism which puts barely post-adolescent mentally challenged idiots in positions of power.

And, eh, Olmert’s army invaded Beirut in 1982?
Really, that’s news to me. For some reason, I thought Olmert only became PM in 2006. Neither cute, nor smart, nor witty.

  17. This is an excellent propaganda angle. M14 needs to distance themselves from Israel if they want to gain support in Lebanon.

  18. Abdul my man…
    “Hezbollah isn’t Persian. They’re Lebanese.”
yes, unfortunately yes. That’s why attacking the State is treason.

“The reason your “movement” fails is because it’s based on lies; lies which Lebanese see right through.”
Dude, I won’t lie to you: the only thing the lebanese are seeing right now is red, blood and bullets flying.

“Why does the female Future TV anchor have to use chemicals to make herself look like she’s from Northern Europe…”
Well, I guess that we all agree that your ugly face on tv won’t improve the audience, n’est-ce pas ?
(sorry mus, didn’t resist this last one :) )

    Posted by half-inbreed | May 13, 2008, 3:22 pm
  19. So an act of resistence was kidnapping 2 Israeli soldiers. Yeah well seems FM after all agreed with Heezballah and its attack against Israel. The stupidity is mindblowing, it is clear they deserve what they are getting.

  20. and the FM are worst than AL Qaeda.
Mustapha, have you seen the videos of the Halba massacre?

BE WARNED. IT’S A VIDEO OF FUTURE PARTY MOVEMENT EXECUTING SPNN, USING AXES TO CHOP UP THEIR LIMBS, THEN ATTACKING A HOSPITAL TO KILL ANY WOUNDED BEING TREATED THERE.

This is Mustapha’s disgusting M14 movement. Lies after lies after lies.

  22. A (very) small number of Japanese people have natural red highlights.

In the early 1990’s, there was a bizarre controversy involving a schoolgirl who had red highlights and the school principal who had ordered her to die her hair jet black.

She and her family refused, and it became a big deal for a while.

I don’t remember how it got resolved, but it just goes to show.

Red-hair-phobia afflicts all people and cultures(especially the Irish!)

    Weird deal.

  23. To Abdul,

Your wisdom really baffled me man, tell me why do you drive a car, or why do you wear pants, or on and on… they’re all western-created products… Are you for real man?

    Posted by MLK | May 13, 2008, 5:14 pm
  24. My car wasn’t made in the West. Neither were my pants. Are you stupid or something?

She dies her hair red to look northern European. She looks like a complete idiot. Dark Lebanese skin, and this chemically created artificial hair.

This is her: “I hate my Lebanese appearance. I want to look Northern European. Let me put some chemicals in my hair.”

    lol.

    Posted by Abdul | May 13, 2008, 5:56 pm
  25. Demonizing Israel only helps Hizbollah and like-minded in the long run. M14 should be trying to elevate the level of dialogue, not pander to unproductive prejudices.

    Posted by Lewis | May 13, 2008, 5:59 pm
  26. abdul is one impressive racist. and if you are actively avoiding things made in the west, please get the hell off the internet.

    Posted by bob | May 13, 2008, 7:42 pm
  27. I’m racist? Did I put chemicals on my body to look Northern European?

And stop taking credit for everything you idiots. Cars, pants, the internet were not made by Northern Europeans. Thanks to Jews, your countries are devolving into garbage.

    Posted by Abdul | May 13, 2008, 8:09 pm
  28. Abdul…cars,internet etc…not invented by Europeans…surely it was the Japanese…no, by the Chinese…no, by Indians…you really are a dickhead.

    Posted by thud | May 13, 2008, 8:17 pm
  29. Abdul,

if you want to engage in a dialogue trying understand what you read first. I didn’t say your car or pants were “made” in the west, i said “western-creation”. big difference if you can comprehend it.

so are you out to shun any western-influence good luck going back to the dark ages. stop taking medicine, stop studying science, because your ilk seized to contribute to humanity and its inventions and contributions 1000 years ago..

come out of the darkness my friend, come to the light, the light of knowledge and enlightenment, the light of hope and compassion, out of the wicked evil darkness that’s eating you.

    Posted by MLK | May 13, 2008, 8:41 pm
  30. Abdul so i am an European and i cant like Arab music because that will make me less European in your opinion? or food? or cloth? Do you know who says that kind of stuff here? White supremacist groups and you are just the Arab mirror kind. No surprising that you both agree in jew hate and are agaisnt individual freedom. One word Tribalism.and that is what is destroying Lebanon.

  32. I’m only pointing out that when given a choice between looking Lebanese, or putting noxious chemicals in her hair to “look” Northern European, she chose the latter.

“Oooh look at me. I look Swedish now.” rofl. What anti-Lebanese fools.

    Posted by Abdul | May 13, 2008, 11:05 pm
  33. abdul…no doubt a sound beating would teach her the error of her ways hey? you retarded buffoon.

    Posted by thud | May 13, 2008, 11:35 pm
  34. A mirror teaches her a lesson.

“Oooh finally, I no longer look Lebanese. Everyone will think I’m Swedish.”

    Posted by Abdul | May 14, 2008, 12:54 am
  35. trust me abdul we all “know” what you’re saying. people have been called race-traitors for hundreds and possibly thousands of years. your brand of racism is no new phenomenon.

    Posted by bob | May 14, 2008, 1:18 am
  36. It has become so evident to me now. You people are the dumbest people on earth! Where do you stupid, stupid people come up with this stuff?

    Posted by Hicham | May 14, 2008, 1:54 am
  37. Will the Lebanese be able ever to discuss their own problems without inserting the word “Israel” in the middle? “Heh, I’m the real anti-Israeli , not you, do not hijack this title please”! What a sick attitude!
This analogy is childish and it’s a shame to be from “a high-ranking source in the Future Movement” !! If their high-ranking sources are coming up with this kind of PR, then they are certainly doomed.

    Posted by Maxim | May 14, 2008, 3:14 am
  38. Persians are far more dangerous and harming to Arabs than Israel.

Iran Shiaa militia’s killed in 5 years in Iraq, Yemen (Al Houthi Shiaa terrorist), Bahrain, Gaza and Lebanon more than Israel did in 60 years!

5 Years of Shiaa Renaissance (Fall of Iraqu 2003) versus 60 years of Israel. The answer is easy: Israel is less harmeful!

Israel is a distinct identity that want to isolated. While damn persians pretend liking the Islam, defending Palestine and liberating Lebanon. The Truth is that Persians are bunch of nihilistic fascist and life haters. Wherever Iran has presence, death, terror, middle ages darkeness takes place. Yes, Hizballah threathens Arabs and Muslims far more than Israel.

To the Safavid Chick (aka persian chick) who will defend her so called Persia, I tell you an advance: get yourself a dildo (get some for Ayatollahs’ too) and stop meddling in Lebanese politics. Stop accusing other to be Zionist for not agreeing with. We hate you and we hate Iran. You sound stupid like your filthy president Najad.

    Posted by sam | May 14, 2008, 5:48 am
  39. Are you crazy? Iranians are responsible for Gaza, Yemen and Iraq?

M14 movement is just nothing but laughable lies. Shameless.

    Posted by Abdul | May 14, 2008, 7:32 am
  40. responsible for those which are killed by them. not war in general (for war more than one actor is needed).

    Posted by Suzanne | May 14, 2008, 9:11 am
  41. Please sir, This analogy is so far fetched and bad.Israel is not an aggressor but a defender of its borders. Yes the defender may seem as an aggressor because the other side only understands force.Common people on all sides of a conflict become the victim, like you and me. What can we do? At least not hide from the truth and to compare Israel and Hezbollah is to kid yourselves. Now you face a Jihadist dictatorship and we have Iran nearly on the doorstep as if Hezbollah is not enough, what will happen now you think? At least we can show some support for each others citizens? What do you say?

Posted by Israeli mother from the north | May 14, 2008, 2:10 pm
  42. To Sam:
You are a proof that the Israeli propaganda is the strongest in the world. Even better than Karl Rove’s one when it was selling the idea of the WMD in Iraq.
So you are convinced that Iran is killing people in Gaza, Yemen, and Iraq. You missed the “Moon”. and please it is not a joke. I am sure the Israeli propaganda can do this: blame Iran to people killed on the moon. although we know there are no living creatures in the moon, but the Jewish media is able to do so. And in all honesty, I give you guys credit for this. I am not crying foul or anything. It is just I am “impressed” with your capability of being brainwashed to that extent…. Now answer me this: Israel was created (or promised by your god) to be a safe place for Israelis. Have you ever wondered that the Israelies feel the least safe in Israel? now before you launch your propaganda about terrorism and hate monger arabs and whatever your media feed you, try to analyze how can a country live in peace while the neighboring one live in poverty, 45% unemployment and virtually zero education….
(Warning: Watching too much Fox news might result in brain disfunction)

Posted by Abu Noor | May 14, 2008, 2:21 pm
  43. As an outsider watching the crisis, I was sympathetic to the plight of Future TV. I was shocked to find the channel come back on not to begin reporting news but to instead focus on sectarian incitement, definitely no better than that of the other side.

Similarly, “press releases” ilke this one are ridiculous and make the Lebanese government and its supporters look utterly unworthy of outside support. How childish can actors on the world stage be?

I have no sense that the other side is any better, but the notion that the government is valiantly protecting the Lebanese people and values and so on, while the other side is trashing these, is laughable. In my (admittedly limited) view, you’re all misguided, and I wish you the best but can’t expect much.

Posted by American observer | May 14, 2008, 3:50 pm
  44. This is ridiculous.

    Posted by Maya | May 14, 2008, 6:02 pm
  45. @American observer
Exactly. You said it. Future Tv is no different from Hizbullah Al Manar TV. I was also shocked by the amount of hatred they have spewed since they were back on air. Trying to picture them as victims is so ridiculous.
Every single party in this conflict has blood on its hands. Every single one.
I do not agree with closing the Future TV channel of course, but it’s nothing more than a hate-spreading channel and a a very sectarian one. The Sunni version of Al Manar.

    Posted by Maxim | May 14, 2008, 6:39 pm
  46. “In 2006 Israel used brutal force to counter an act of military resistance”

And you are buying this BS? HA military resistance to HA military aggression? Guys, are you for real?

Better tell us what’s up with Halba.

    Posted by leo | May 15, 2008, 4:56 am
  47. @abu noor, despite the hatred (also in military sense) against israel by many, israelis are still pretty safe. it’s not comparable to the pogroms in russia, the holocaust in europe and the expulsion and/or surpression of jews in the arab world.
