It remains to be seen if the circle of violence can be abated. There is already blood on both sides and the streets are boiling for revenge and counter revenge. Cooler heads should be louder and more persuasive.

The army has to break up, the Sunnis of Lebanon need defence against those Shia militia men. I heard that some Sunni Generals indicated clearly they can’t stand Hizballah’s terrorism any longer, and will act accondingly if the army command does not budge. The army became a shameful insitution for allowing Iranian-Syrian Militias a free reign and this will not go on for much longer.

    Riad,
I linked to that article in a new post

    Patriot,

That’s precisely the slippery slope we don’t want to get into.

The army Will split if things don’t abate. Remember, HizbIran was blackmailing the army with division across sectarian lines if it interferes to stop its terrorists in Beirut. Now does anyone think for a second that pro-March 14 officers, not only Sunni ones, will take this crap much longer when they see their brothers, sisters, and kids being shot like sheep by the Iranian paid mercenaries. Wake up Nasrallah before its too late.

I’m sorry Mustapha, but the army is a national school, not a circus. If it’s–and you are–afraid of it splitting, they screw it, let it split, it didn’t deserve to exist to begin with, then.

In point of fact, a national army that tolerates a parallel military outfit in its own jurisdiction is no longer a national army but an emasculated dupe. In fact, a legitimate govenment that does not try officers for shirking their national obligations, is ITSELF guilty of high treason. The Lebanese Army must NOW, if not earlier, arrest and/or shoot on sight any and ALL armed elements ANYWHERE on Lebanese territory, who are not members of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

    Enough pussyfooting already!
