Religious Leaders Pray Together For Peace In Civil War Memory

April 14, 2008 · Mustapha Hamoui

The sheikhs and the monks are nicely arranged in a photo-op that is supposed to say “never-again”.

But the war they’re praying against in this symbolic display seems soo passé. Gladly, a war between Muslims and Christians is unlikely in the future, so I suggest that the religious elders be regrouped in a more contemporary fashion.

They should have a large group of Sunni sheikhs on one side, a large group of Shiaa sheikhs on the other, and a bunch of Christian monks acting as a buffer between them.

That would be more like it.
