What happened, Augustus Glub? You blog so infrequently? Did your trustfund dry up? Did you have to get a real job? Or did "they" stop paying you to promote their cedar BS?

No stable and modern countries were built in 2 minutes and without zillions of problems. The years we are living are truly building Lebanon. Without problems we may have built a fake nation that falls at the lightest wind. Now we are discovering all the difficulties of managing a decent nation, and we will find good solutions. Aoun's followers will realize that worshiping an idol is nonsense. Hariri's followers will realize that they cannot have the entire pie. Nasrallah's followers will get sick and tired of religion and wars.

Better have the issues now before Lebanon is rebuilt than in 10 years after it has been rebuilt. Once all problems are cleanly solved, we can move forward on a stable ground.

It's never a waste of time.
If you can convince your pro-March 8 neighbor that the March 8 camp doesn't seem to have any good and reasonable plan for the future of Lebanon, and you convert him or her to neutrality, or even better to pro-March 14, which is the spring of Lebanon, then you would have planted one more seed.

And seed by seed, the spring of Lebanon can blossom again. In reality, everything that is happening in Lebanon today will only strengthen this country in the future. The problems are very deep and they encourage the Lebanese to thing deeply and eventually they will see the light, whether they are pro-M8 or pro-M14.

If you reduce the popularity of Nasrallah and Aoun, then Syria's influence is automatically weakened. And this has been the strategy of M14 politicians so far. It seems to be working. But everything takes time, patience and wisdom.

The dictators and fascists will be defeated soon. Their model doesn't stand on its feet for too long. They will self annihilate. Every decision they make is often the wrong one. There is not enough diversity at the top to correct the decisions.

You're right Karim, there aren't any Arabs to begin with, so I can see how "reputable Arab" wouldn't make any sense. You called it, Adonis said it

"Call me crazy, Abu Hatem, but personally, I would have ended this sentence at “Arab.”"

It wouldn't make much sense, though.

I don't know. Al-Hayat is not a very good source. Honestly there aren't really any reputable Arab papers, most things in the Arab media are complete rubbish.

"Sorry Anonymous, I just checked, you’re right, there is not Arab Gulf. My bad. It must be the mickey-mouse education we get in the Arab world. So there you have it, I’m coming clean and admitting my wrong. Wouldn’t it be nice if Shiites like you admitted their wrongs every once in a while too? I will not hold my breath"

Sam, maybe you've been taught that the Persian Gulf *should* be called the Arab Gulf, as opposed to it actually being called such? ..purely based on where it's located. :)

Sam, I read your nonesense, and all I can think is how REMARKABLY dull and banal you people are. Still living in Arab nationalism's fantasy land; must be the fumes from Arabism's carcass.
Care to join the rest of us humans in the new millennium once the effects of the fumes subside? You don't have to, really. It's just an idea. Otherwise, be my guest and take another whiff of Arabism if that's your life's ferment. Enjoy your insignificance.
