Here’s a great quote from March 14 leader Samir Geagea in reply to Sayyed Nassrallah’s finger-wagging.
If your Sayyed-ness believes that the majority of the Lebanese people, the Lebanese government, the majority of Arab states, the security council and the international community are all wrong, then perhaps that means that you are the one who’s wrong, Sayyed.
Mr. Geagea also challenged Sayyed Nassrallah to a public debate, as opposed to the Lebanese habit of preaching to the choir.

The beirut spring is a blog that is interested in Lebanese society and its politics. It started in February 2005 after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri

At a time when everyone has sidelined with the US and Israel, including Arab States, to the point where 1.5 million persons in Gaza are starving to death, the only answer is defiance and armed resistance.
February 22nd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Nasrallah’s infamous statesmanlike call to a dual…
“Nasrallah proposed some sort of a competition between two rallies, one called by the majority and the second called by the Hizbullah-led opposition, to determine which of the two sides can marshal more supporters and, therefore, represents the majority.”(from Haharnet.com)
Geagea’s response:
“”you have no right to take us against our will to where we don’t want to go” and challenged him to accept a TV debate to allow “the lebanese, the Arabs and the whole world judge”(naharnet.com)
You be the judge on who’s the jackass!!

His Sayyed-ass thinks we live in an imaginary Imamate;
somebody please remind him that there are international institutions around, and that the 7th century ended some 1400 years ago…
.

Another Lebanese Says:
“…to the point where 1.5 million persons in Gaza are starving to death”.
Me and you wished we were well fed as the Gazzanes in their newly born Islamic emirate.

I wander where is our friend Ado?? I wander whether you woke up from the intensive firing of machinguns in the air after the seyyed hassan’s speach?? Or only you can hear blue bullets…No objection to Lemonade with Orange mix…
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Danny,
I’m hear and i totally am against any form of arms exposure or use….
People who illegaly expose their weapons should be banned and sued…
I think the stupid Hizbo supporters who shoot, are no better then Hariri ones…
As for proposing a debate between Hariri and Nasrallah,it’s like Wi2am wahhab proposing to have a debate with Georges Bush…..

Here’s a novel concept, folks. Instead of “competing rallies to see who’s more popular”. There’s this novel concept that was introduced about 300+ years ago, called ELECTIONS. It’s kind of the same idea as the competing rallies, but it’s done in a more orderly fashion (no tire burning and assault). In the end, both sides agree to abide by the final count and get to work from the opposition benches until the next electoral cycle.
Just sayin…
February 23rd, 2008 at 12:24 am
Oops. Last sentence should’ve read: “both sides agree to abide by the final count, and the loser gets to work from the opposition benches until the next cycle.”
February 23rd, 2008 at 1:03 am
Great quote. But it needs translation. Let me try:
“If your Sayyed-ness believes that the majority of the Lebanese people [based on the 1932 census which claims the Shia are still the minority],
the Lebanese government [which isn’t functioning],
the majority of Arab states [but not the majority of the Arab people they represent],
the security council and the international community [but not the Arab League]
are all wrong, then perhaps that means that you are the one who’s wrong, Sayyed.”
Or put more simply:
“If your Sayyed-ness believes that [my allies] are all wrong, then perhaps that means that you are the one who’s wrong, Sayyed.”
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:22 am
To Another Lebanese..
Funny but weren’t you the ones who welcomed the Israeli army in the 80’s and showered them with rice for pushing the PLO out of the south. Now you tell us you really sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians, how noble of you.
February 23rd, 2008 at 2:39 am
Yup, funny how the HA and its supporters kissed Israeli butt and now…
As for Ado, please read correctly…no mention of blue…
February 23rd, 2008 at 3:16 am
Hezbollah only knows the language of war and violence. Hopefully, Israel will wipe them out for good.
Bravo Geagea for being straight-forward and telling Nasrallah to go finger himself.
February 23rd, 2008 at 3:23 am
Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin and now Nassralla, thought they can change the world to their liking. We know what happened to the three presumed changers of history. Nassralla needs to heed the lessons of history. May be he needs to read more about history. Lebanon is a civilization that existed before the 1943 independence. It is a culture and a civilization with deep roots and an intelligent memory. Nassralla is not even paying attention and is blinded by anger. He knows that his so-called allies played a role in killing his second in command. Yet he cannot do anything about it. So, now he is taking out his frustration on whoever is available. He has already fell for the trap. A trap set by his so-called allies. He is going to act out of anger. An action that will lead to self-destruction. Unfortunately, he is about to sacrifice many innocent Lebanese lives in the process. The only silver lining is that Lebanon was before Nassralla and will remain after he is gone.
February 23rd, 2008 at 3:33 am
Nassralla brags about his supporters filling the streets, yet he remains in hiding, some powerful and loved leader. Where is his Divine protection? Too busy planning another Divine victory perhaps? I wonder if likes to go to Syria on an unannounced visit anytime soon.
February 23rd, 2008 at 3:35 am
Beiruti- very good point. nasrallah is acting with no regard to lebanon’s history or heritage. i can’t believe this guy is lebanese. we can’t relate to him. he’s a total lunatic.
The sad part is how he brainwashed so many people.
February 23rd, 2008 at 3:41 am
Sasa, your translation is spot on, however, it is lost on many people.
February 23rd, 2008 at 7:25 am
Bad Vibes,
I totally agree with you….
February 23rd, 2008 at 7:59 am
Nassralla has sold his soul to Bashar. In his latest speech, he angrily attacks the International Tribunal(IT) . So Mr. Nassralla, what do you propose to do with regard to the assassinations of the past three years? Forget about them or perhaps ask Syria to investigate them while they investigate the murder of Mughnieh? That should work for you. Nassralla’s attack on the IT can only be explained by two ways: 1)Hassan follows Bashar’s orders and 2)Hizballa and perhaps even Mughnieh were deeply involved in the political assassinations of the past three years. When one day you meet your maker Mr. Nassralla, the IT will be the least of your worries. You are going to have much to explain to the Ultimate Judge. Too bad Bashar won’t be able to help you then. May Allah the merciful have no mercy for either one of you.
February 23rd, 2008 at 10:41 am
I really don’t get this idea of competing rallies. This is not a sports event or a pep rally, a leader needs to be elected and the country needs to function like a normal one sometime this year! How is it that so many people take this unkempt fool Nassrallah seriously? And when will other countries start speaking with a louder voice about the real source of Lebanon’s problems.
February 23rd, 2008 at 11:38 am
Maybe this scenario is applicable in way of an explanation of HasNas’s hightened instability. Lebanon, in military terms, can be considered a buffer zone - a place that slows down (but doesn’t ultimately stop) the main action. Iran might be getting worried about a Western attack on its nuclear facilities and has pulled Nasrallah’s strings to fire up the herd to cause a diversion and menace Israel. This approach has appeal to the Hezbos since, not having any realistic program for 21st century problems, it gets the herd’s attention switched to external items. Embarassing questions are not part of hezbos ideas on running a government. This approach is more tactical than strategic. The people going down this route can only hope to capitalize on the resulting chaos.
Just a thought.
February 23rd, 2008 at 12:44 pm
ppl, please read or listen to nasrallahs speech fully, then commenting…
he proposes a count or a challenge, ( to counter the sudden arrogance in the M14’s stand), he knows and we all know, that no such competition will take place..
M14 is betting on a war to finish hizballah once and for all, which explains the stalemate & kind of explains the anger in the speech..
as for geagea challenging nasrallah, for gods sake , he’ll be taken to pieces, my little brother can outdo that silly scarecrow…
p.s: SASA, good post, spot on
February 23rd, 2008 at 1:59 pm
khanjar, like the brainwashed follower you are stop threatening in every way. Put up or shut up!!
Televised debate will be a great opportunity for your “fearless” leader to get back his sheeple that are so painfully slipping away.
Again, if he is so confident…the door is open! Put up or shut the eff up!!
February 23rd, 2008 at 8:18 pm
hey has anyone seen my keys? i thought i’d find them in this blog
February 24th, 2008 at 12:21 am
Geagea Rocks! Most of the Sunni and the Druze are behind the Hackim plus the majority of Christians!
Geagea should be the President: he will eradicate the cancer called AyatIran in Lebanon!
Another Lebanese:
lol, if you are that much into resistant: go commit suicide in the occupied Golan Hights. Or even better go fight Americans from your home country Iran: there is plenty of Americans in the Arab Gulf (Yes it is the Arabic Gulf and not the Safavid Gulf as your iranian masters call it).
February 24th, 2008 at 3:51 am
I consider myself as a March 14 supporter, but whenever I read Danny’s comments I get really irritated.
Danny, I know it is a blog and anything can be written here but come on dude whenever I read your comments I feel as if you’re shouting. Telling people they are brainwashed, calling them names, telling them to shut up is a bit too much. And its like this in almost every comment.
Anyways I can’t force you to do anything, nor Beirut Spring. Actually that is one thing I like about this blog that your comments are posted right away, and not “censored” first by the page owners.
February 24th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
Geagea is a convicted criminal. Now wonder why you dumb Arabs will never live in peace. You will follow any idiot no matter what they have done. But if someone tells you that it should be justice for all, even people who have different beliefs than you, you will not accept it. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid arabs. Migrate to America and see how much they are going to welcome you.
February 24th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Hicham,
You’re complaining about the America, but you live in America and probably take the welfare from the government and you work under the table, lol.
American is the land of dreams and opportunities. If you don’t like, go and live in Damascus, Tehran or Qum.
As for Geagea, he might be a bit violent sometimes, I agree. But what about Hassouna: a 5 stars bloody terrorist and Aoun: a psychopath megalomaniac?
February 24th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Hicham,
one -was charged of- exploding a church (in the past), the other -is guilt of- exploding a country (not so far ago), so…
Reality check: which one you *would* consider *listen* (not blindly obey)
Can Geagea change, focus on whole-unsectarian-leb project ?
Does Hassouna *want* to change (himself, as the wilayat thing is old news) ?
Or, better phrased, which country do you want for yourself, your family, your countryman ?
February 24th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
AS,
sorry for hurting your feelings…Read the comment and answer objectively! This is not Hizbiztan to be censored…As you being March 14, I do not give a damn. I am for a free democratic non sectarian Lebanon…
February 25th, 2008 at 7:37 am
Here are my 2 cents.
I am neither a Geagea follower nor a Nasrallah follower.
But when I listen to Geagea, what he says tends to be logical and makes sense. Sometimes he speaks too fast. He should try to slow down and let the other person finish his or her question.
On the other hand, when I listen to Nasrallah, I can’t help but think of Hitler or some sultan from the dark ages. Nothing is logical. Nothing makes sense. Too aggressive and arrogant. He thinks he’s God or something. Can’t he learn to talk like everyone else? But I guess this kind of incendiary speech helps him rally the masses! Hitler…
February 25th, 2008 at 9:59 am
It is this kind of debate that is prolonging the situation more and more without getting to a proper solution. Both parties are right and both of them are wrong at the same time… All is relative right? Except in Lebanon of course where even the laws of physics will stop applying soon.
No man can have the decision of war and peace over a whole country! The arrogance and ego of a proclaimed leader have led to nothing but a “divine” destruction of a nation in terms of infrastructure, economy and everything related to prosperity.
A call for public debate falls in the terms of civilization and democracy, unless this “divine” leader believes that his words are undebatable and the only way to lead is by showing on TV screaming his lungs out over some senseless threats.
He wants a war, let him go to war by himself without dragging the rest of the country with him. And if he still want to keep on hiding and avoid a public debate let it be, his stocks are already so low on the human scale that one keeps doubting how he manages to go even lower.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:08 am
Consider a quote from the Roman historian Tacitus made 2000 years ago -”They made a wasteland and called it peace”. I hope future historians write a better report about Lebanon. That’s really up to the people in the here and now.
February 25th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
when u say , no one has the right to take a country to war, u immediately loose the argument…
nasrallah does not , never did and never will have the capacity to take a country to war….plain & simple.
last war was pre-planned as everyone agreed, the soldier story was a sorry excuse for media to rant about, nice to see everyone bought in…
as for the future, be sure hizb wont go kidnapping again, any war will be an israeli decision, hizb=resistance=self defence..
im not hizbollah, nor awni, but these are basic facts that ppl dont grasp.
February 25th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
This report from alseyassah (kuwait) is really disturbing
عون يراهن على انتصار لـ”حزب الله” يوصله إلى سدة رئاسة الجمهورية
http://www.alseyassah.com/news_details.asp?nid=5891&snapt=%C7%E1%CF%E6%E1%ED%C9
It is also published on March14 site
February 25th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Mus,
Do you notice that almost no one (BV excepted) has become elated that a civil suggestion of a TV debate was offered! I
wander where’s the midset of Lebanese?
“AS”, here’s your chance, where’s your constructive comments?
Khanjar??? At least you believe your stuff!! If you believe Seyyedd Nasrallah can be articulate in this forum…” as for geagea challenging nasrallah, for gods sake , he’ll be taken to pieces, my little brother can outdo that silly scarecrow…”… Why does not your “hero” agree to a simple debate???
Here’s his chance…let him take Geagea to pieces, as per your bravado!!
February 25th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Dear Khangar…. Which planet do you come from?
If you think that facts are news that come from AL Manar, you are not just from another planet, you are from another galaxy.
Just let me refresh your “narrow mind” memory…A week before that “sorry excuse” “army story” that you think is not what ignited the war, Hamas kidnapped a soldier and Israel waged a war against GAZA for that. So Hassouna could not see that as a warning. he went on and kidnapped TWO soldiers (based on Lebanese orders and not Iranian for sure) and guess what happened.
And with respect to the open TV debate, Mr Khangar tell Hassouna if he is scared that Israel will assassinate his ass while being out of his rat hole, to do the same thing that he did after the “Divine Victory”. If you do not remember, I will refresh your memory again. Hassouna asked Qatar to make sure that Israel will allow him to be out of his rat hole to declare “divine victory”. do you remember that?
So please again, Mr. Khangar, if you are lost, you cannot find your way to Al Manar, we can help you. But this blog is for free people.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
yes, lebanese patriot, kidnapping those soldiers was the wrong move , and nasrallah admitted it and regretted it.. but it still doesnt mean israel goes to war for them… blaming hizbullah is the whole objective, and ppl like u fell hard for that..
as for the debate thing, who is gaegae to call for a one on one with nasrallah,, i mean its a good idea, dont get me wrong, but gaegae is too weak in terms of weight to make this work..
if jumblat had called for this, it would have made it interesting, and meaningfull, but gaegae is a puppet with no say so in anything… a response from nasrallah even about this subject would be a little victory for tiny little gaegae.
we all love lebanon just the same, so please dont preach bout freedom and life and democracy and whatever…our country is sinking, and until M14 realizes that they are not the majority, and that they have to share…we are going nowhere
February 25th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Khanjar,
You are ludicrous.Now you have a scale-o-meter??
khanjar sorry but what world do you live in? Now you decide who’s “big” enough?…” but gaegae is too weak in terms of weight to make this work..”"
Ha??
Your words show how shallow and ignorant you seem regarding democratic process!!
February 25th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Ah. Yes. “These are facts” based on the “fact” that Khanjar tells us they are. Cause he’s God. Only HE knows what is fact and what is fiction. Thanks for enlightening us Khanjar.
As for me being elated about ANYTHING these days. Not really.
I just find it amusing that the very precepts of democracy:
1. open debate, VERBAL (non-violent)
2. free press
3. expressing the will of the people through elections
get overlooked with such simplicity by the Lebanese. My favorite was Nassrallah demanding a competition of mass rallies, to PROVE that he has more people behind him. Like i said in my previous post: Isn’t that what elections are for? You dumbfucks.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Too much of a weasel to accept the debate challenge.
I believe HASSOUNA has shown his true colors the last couple of years. Gone the image of a straight-talking clean charismatic leader. All the prepared and well-rehearsed speeches along with the masks of ‘resistance’ have fallen. Even Shiites realize that this character is just another shrewed cunning politician disguised in religious cloth.
February 26th, 2008 at 12:44 am
According to Mrs. Mugnieh, the Syrians were behind the killing of her husband. A hypothesis that makes a lot of sense based on the location of the assassination. The logical deduction from this simple hypothesis is that Nassralla should now be afraid for his life not only from the Israelis, but rather from the more immediate threat from the Syrian intelligence. I do not have a crystal ball to predict the future, but here are some likely future events. The Syrian regime will chip away at Hizballa’s leadership until the peace deal with Israel comes to fruition. The final blow will be to get rid of Nassralla. The moral of the story: The Syrian regime has no permanent friends. It has agents and facilitators whose usefulness usually expires with time. Mughnieh’s absence serves the current Syrian timetable. Nassralla may have to reconsider any planned or unplanned visits to Syria in the future.
February 26th, 2008 at 1:55 am
Guys, here’s the quote of the millenium:
LEBANESE SUCK!!!
February 26th, 2008 at 7:40 am
danny u little child, u’re putting samir gaegae, a man who uses phrases like ” kteer, kteer, kteer, kteer” , in the same category as nasrallah..?
all of the ouwet in lebanon can fit into three buses.
February 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Sam, it that is your name.
Wow, there you go classifying people you know nothing about. That is why you have earned the title of the DUMBEST ARAB.
Why are we no longer living in Lebanon? Because of people like you who did not want to see others, who you thought were a lesser people, have equal rights.
February 26th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Khanjar,
How articulate! You make my point; cool-aid!!!!
February 29th, 2008 at 3:51 am
Hicham
If you are really smart and you find that living in America is bad… Then be smart and leave it! Try something else. Find a new land for God’s sake, use your brain… oops but you have no brain!
Still you like complaining and being pessimistic.
You’re simply a looser lazy ass blaming others for your failurs and financial issues…
