Here’s a nifty trick for you to learn. If there’s a Lebanese sitting next to you, there’s a surefire way to know to which party he/she belongs. One question will let you know where that person is on the elusive Lebanese political spectrum. One question can help you decode Lebanese paranoia.

Hello, my name is Mustapha and I've been blogging about Lebanese society, business and politics since February 2005.
More reason for me to be neutral while you ignorant folks back in Lebanon kill each other. when you are done killing each other and no one is left I will come back and take over if Israel leaves that land alone.
I can drink my Arak in peace in Zahle
heehee.
W,
you’re not welcomed!!Remember you are a dirty american…lol
Hahahahaha, chou hal khaliss.

Hahahahahhahahaahhahah
“Take over”

“Drinking arak in zahle”

Please more jokes, please!!!!
whatever… I’m with you.
Come to think of it. The best chance Christians have is to make a Sunni-Shiite war.
Let all Christians travel to Australia, Canada, France, the US, and elsewhere. When the Israelis and Americans have fund the sunnies with arms and ammunition, and Iran on its end supports and arms the Shiite in Lebanon – That way we make sure the war ends when the ammunitions finish.
when we go back. claim it, then fight Christians amoung each others, Maronites and Orthodox and Catholics and Armenians, and those who are only Half Christian get the most beating. They should have known better.
hahaha… cheers lads!
That stup Aounite attitude is driving Lebanon to destruction: let’s sit and watch Sunni and Shiaa fight. We hate them both anyways!
Instead, Christians in Lebanon has the full responsibility to protecte Lebanon and support the Rule of Law in the Lebanese State. Not as Aoun did by making Toilet Paper Agreement with Hizzi that makes iranians arms legitimate in Lebanon!
Hope one day I see Minimi Aoun dead in some Frozen Orange Acid Baril.
14th, america is ready to screw you again just like they screwed 3oun back in early 90′s.
All Moustakbal guys I know are educated and well respected guys. Sheik Saad is very respectable person although I do not agree with any single politician on everything.
What I don’t understand is how you got Samira geagea as your ally. Do you know what those zealots say about muslims behind your back. Since I am a christian and neutral I get to hear it from all sides. And let me tell you the LF people you should not be trustful of. They are the Bin Laden equivalence in christians. Shame on you Samira.
If Middle East politics were an art form it would be Surrealism. As for roadmaps, a NYT article can’t cut it – better to try “Alice in Wonderland”. I would add horror films to the mix, but no such film comes close in terms of spilled blood.
whatever,
WHATEVER!!! failing all, attack DSG. I do not give a rat’s ass about your Christianity…How convincing are you??Awesome!!
…echoes of barking on surround system…with orangettes silhouetting around!!
I used to like to read BeirutSpring comments because there was a level of civility and intellectual exchange that I found refreshing… sorry to say that has not been the case in the past couple of weeks! name-calling, and attacking each other personally, and not even addressing the blog’s posting, some of you should think twice before joining the fold… or maybe this is symptomatic of the level we have degenerated to in the current political crisis.
So addressing the post; though I lean more towards M14, if someone asked me who killed Mughniyeh, I would still think and say Israel… makes more sense to me.
Kara, I agree. I made that mistake too but I was the victim first of insults from others here. All I am saying is give me the freedom to say what I want to say without being subjected to attacks.
Anyway, I apolgize for my mistake of “name calling”. Of respect to Aby Stayff and you I will not say bad things about LF people anymore. Yoo have my word. Peace
The article is all about “blame” – each side jumps to “blame”. This is the true face of Lebanon. Who can we “blame” for everything that goes wrong.
If you can find someone to “blame” for failure (and you always can and do) then responsibility never has to be taken for anything.
Sweet!
Hey Danny,
Don’t get so offended man, you and your buddies started the name calling. 1/2 my relatives are LFrs and I get along fine with them. You wish somehow to believe that I am tayyar guy and that’s fine if it suits you, however it still does not make me tayyar or 8th guy.
If I am not with you it does not mean I am your enemy or with them. I believe there is also a neutral side. If and when you guys go at it, we the neutrals will be the only ones with hands clear of blood.
Kara,
I share the same feelings.
Ditto Kara. At least on the desire to limit the blog to civilised voices, even when people don’t agree. As for the Israeli tie, there are also reasonable cases for the involvement of Syria, America, a few desert kingdoms and even Hezbollah itself – individually or a mix.
Given the regions’ endless involvement in plots, sub plots and branches of sub plots the final truth may take a long time in coming – or maybe never.
