Israeli Media Ecstatic Over Mughniyah’s Killing

Links

While the Lebanese are just beginning to grapple with the scale of Mughniya’s assassination, Israeli websites don’t seem to get enough of it.

Just on Haaretz’s main page, there are 5 colorfully-titled articles under one big headline “Hezbollah terror chief killed in Damascus blast, PMO denies Israeli role in Imad Mughniyah’s death” (picture shows Mr. Mughniya’s car)

Hezbollah: we have right to retaliate anywhere
Mughniyah Killing great achievement for the free world
ANALYSIS: Hezbollah terror chief was more wanted than Nasrallah
Hezbollah deputy leader was behind string of terror attacks
ANALYSIS: Imad Mughniyah – The epitome of the ‘Axis of Evil’

We’re pretty ecstatic about it here in the US too. This man was the worst terrorist in modern history, period. Nobody else even comes close. If he’s really dead, Hezbollah is in a lot of trouble. Mughniya was the tactician behind every major terror attack HA ever pulled off, going back to the 1970s. He can’t be replaced.

The poor orangettes! They all had themselves convinced that Hezbollah has changed and there is no more of this terrorist stuff. The HA members are setting them straight on this. Their national hero has died and they are admitting that HA has not changed and that Mughniyah was a “great leader” to them and still involved in operations within Lebanon today. I’m not sure how much longer the FPMers are going to be able to deny the obvious.

    Ace,

right on. The tayyar website is announcing the martyrdom of Mughnieh…How low can any organization get?
They are more than lapdogs. I guess they like to be Hassan’s bitch!! There’s no other explanation. Why cannot they have a differing opinion on anything? My suggestion is that all Orangebutts join HA and create one party!!
…my suspicion that Mughnieh was the mastermind behind the Lebanese assasinations, especially Hariri is getting stronger.

    I guess we’ll stay tuned.

First, I rejoice for the death of this terrorist thug. He contributed probably in Hariri’s killing, as well all March 14th leader.

But, the question is: who killed him? Could it be an inside job? Is he became dangerous because of the International Tribunal?

I have hard time to believe that Israelis could overcome the Persian and the Syrian intelligence to kill this terrorist mastermind in Syria’s heartland!

    Ace and Danny,

You make me want to puke at your narrow mindedness.

You blame FPM for associating with HA. Well, I blame M14 for having in its ranks Jumblatt the master of all imbeciles! How can you have trust someone who’s interest can only be served when the country is split! If the shia, sunnis and christians agree on moving forward, who do you think will get the crums? The Druze of course! Then you wonder why we can’t agree! There is a snake on the negotiating table which does not want rapprochment or agreements and who goes out and makes useless speeches which have nothing constructive in them. Instead he says that he can’t live with the shias values… great! this is exactly what we need… a weasel who somehow gets to talk on TV to show his community that he is doing what he’s supposed to do for them i.e. keep the major factions fighting.

Now would I rather have HA or Jumblatt? I’d go with straight talking HA anytime!

Finding and blowing Mughniyah last night means only one thing. the rat came out of his hole because he was preparing another bombing/assassination somewhere (beirut most probably) as a valentine gift. It is also a message for all who thinks that they are safe in their mouraba3at, or in their own capitals. We can hit and hit hard, we can blow any head we want at the time we want too!
it is a clear message for iran-syria-hezb! you don’t want to talk, we will fight you back with your own methods CAR BOMBS (what a coincidence?)targeted assassinations!!!
BAM in your face Bashar and Hassouna!!!

    Sami,

It is obvious have comprehention isues. I never talked about March 14 or Jumblat. As for FPM, they are acting as if they not free or patriotic or a movement. My point was that FPM was heralding the “Martyr” mughnieh. This asshole had killed hundreds of innocent people coldheartedly. Never in his life did anything but kill…the car bomb specialist!!
…and you are for honouring mass murderers.??? As for Jumblat, he NEVER said he cannot live with Shias…He said HA and their death culture.

Please get your facts right before accusing anyone….

    Cheers,

I would like to remind you you aounis how you elevated Jumblat to the rank of hero after hariris assassination, you fpmers were joining his party by the hundreds. Nawar ento!!!
if there is anyone standing against an agreement in Lebanon it’s you oranges, and your acid brainwashed lemon allies.
Now you are calling this assassin a martyr. A..e fikoun wahad wahad. zbelit el zbeleh. Jarrasto el masihiye, you changed the face of Lebanon and it’s reputation in the west just to get a maniak to the presidency. i’ll buy you a freekin chair, and sit your dumdum on it and call him president and leave the country alone. NAWAR!!!!

So, after every M14 figure gets assassinated, and people point the finger at Syria, a host of idiots show up on these blogs and attempt to convince us that “We don’t really know who did it.” and that it could very well be Israel. Right?

So, to be fair, I’m expecting the same idiots to show up today and inform us that “We don’t know who killed Mughnieh” and how it could very well be Syria itself. Right?

Either that, or those idiots are also hypocrites who just pretend to want to be “fair” but who never want to accuse Syria of anything, and want to blame everything on Israel.

  11.

Every party effected by his assassination should keep 2 very important questions in mind.
    1. How will iran and/or hezbollah retaliate?
    2. How will the funeral for Mughniya effect the march 14 rally if at all?
Lets hope the army can handle separating the two events if one or the other boils over.

    Guys,
Being the skeptic that I am, do not overlook the probability that this incident was just a well choreographed cover up, a fake assassination so to speak. Who is to say that this guy was really killed and that Bashar and Nasrallah did not put on this show to gain points with the west and get this guy off the radar for good.

    To Sami and his like..

As the old saying goes, you live by the sword you die by the sword. This terrorist as all of you HA followers are nothing but a shameful stain on Lebanon. It’s utter lunacy to call this terrorist which is devout of any human values a freedom fighter. Blowing up innocent people in the name of freedom is nothing but a cowardly act and a farce.

All who mourn his demise are nothing but rodents devout of any values and deserve to be crushed like cockroaches. Are you guys serving sweets in dahia yet.. more to come so you better get used to it you incest fucks..

    1. How will iran and/or hezbollah retaliate?

Muggie operated without getting attacked for decades. Now POOF! he’s gone. What risks will whoever is charged with retaliation run in planning and carrying out a revenge operation? Will they have any more success than Al-Qaeda or the Sadrists in Iraq had when their military leaders kept getting killed? The long-term result, of course, has been greatly diminished Al-Qaeda and Shia militia operations – and a lot of dead terrorists.

    2. How will the funeral for Mughniya effect the march 14 rally if at all?

A good question, for not all funerals are unhappy occasions for onlookers.

A better question might be, “How will Muggie’s killing affect the Shia?” They have been forcibly reminded that terror is still at the core of Hezbollah (or M wouldn’t have been called a “great leader”). Since M also headed up counterintelligence ops – meaning he was in charge of hiding stuff from the U.N. and squashing pro-Western/Zionist tendencies – the Shia may feel just a little freer to speak up about things.

Izz El-Deen Sheikh Khalil was killed when his car exploded as he tried to start it, at about 10.45am outside his home in the Zaarah neighbourhood of Damascus. It is thought to be the first assassination of its kind of a Palestinian leader in Syria. – sep 27 2004 The Independent (London) Hugh Macleod in Damascus.

If anyone could recall this incident four years ago, they would understand that whether it was Mossad or CIA, either organization would have the capability to carry out the assassination with or without inside help. Just something to keep in mind when we assume that syria’s “draconian” security measures and apparatus are capable of keeping these sorts of things from happening. I could be wrong, but this evidence points away from syria.

good riddance! as an American I can’t think of better ending for Mughniyah! As much as i would love to say that america was behind this, I seriously doubt it. I don’t think we have the stones anymore (politicaly at least)to pull off an operation like this. wich leaves either an internal dispute within hez, a classic syrian hit (very similar to hariris death, even the timing is suspect), or israel. whoever did it i’m sure it wont achieve much but a retalitory strike at israel and then quite possibly an escalating exchange between them. come to think of it I guess that would be achieving something…chaos.

IRAN KILLED MUGHNYIA AS A PUNISHMENT FOR STARTING THE WAR AGAINST ISRAEL WITHOUT IRAN’S PERMISSION. IN THE WAR IRAN LOST ALL ITS LONG AND MEDIUM RANGE ROCKETS AT A COST OF 2 BILLION DOLLARS.

AS YOU REMEMBER THERE WERE RUMORS THAT NASARALA WAS DEMOTED, AND THAT NASARRALA HIMSELF SAID THAT HAD HE KNOWN THAT ISRAEL WOULD START A WAR HE WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED THE KIDNAPPING OF ISRAELI SOLDIERS.

IRAN IS VERY ANGRY AT HIZBULLAH, AND LOOK FOR FURTHER KILLINGS OF ITS LEADERS. I AM SURE THAT NASSARALA IS NEXT.

He was killed by Hezbollah, or the Syria government, or Al-Qaeda…and frankly, who can find a hair’s breadth of space between either of those?

    Musta,
Israeli Media was not really “Ecstatic.” You read the English version of the Hebrew site. They do not translate the entire site. Usually just what they think international readers would like to read – which is foreign affairs. And since it was a slow news day (Hamas shooting less rockets), you get the impression of ecstasy.

  31.

Firstly thank you for this interesting blog.
I have been reading all your guys comments and must realy say I am sometimes ashamed of beeing a lebanese. I had a muslim father and a christian mother who both died in the civil war in 1989 when I was 10 years old. I lost almost my whole family and was left alone with my elder brother and smaller sister. The took everything from us, left us alone with no parents, grandparents etc. The same people who at that time were waging war at each other are now in control of the country. The same families who 100 years ago were controling Lebanon are no the same and the same discussions we had 50 years ago we have today.
Are we blind or what is going on. I have alot to say, but it will be too much on this site, so i will make it quick. Instead of arguing about things that neither gives you happines, nor food on the table we should all go out and demonstrate for Lebanon and against the tyrans who rule it and are playing their games while we blindly follow them.instead of demonstrating for harriri, Jumblat, hezbollah or Aoun let us all demonstrate for Lebanon. Wake up guys open your eyes for gods sake on what is happining with the country.
About the discussions here.If someone want to discuss something, feelings do not count a shit, who my leader or my leader is does not count a shit, what counts are realism, proofs and logic but it seems as if we in this country do not know what these words mean. Why are we letting the politicians playing with our minds, guys wake up and use your own brains for gods sake and for the sake of Lebanon. This is a very good platform to begin. ABout the assasination of mughnie. If we want to know if he were a terrorist or no it is not enough for any of us to say, fuck him or we have to praise him. This is useless. Let us find something about him, let us learn something about his history and afterwards we can decide whether he is a terrorist or not and that is the same with the case of the political situation in Lebanon. What your hearts tell you does not count a shit or what hariri or jumblat or Aoun or whatever tells you does not count anything unless it is the true and to know if it is the true or not you have to make some research. I am so fucking mad, the war took my whole family and alot of others families and you cannot even discuss on a mature plan, that is discusting

definition of terrorism according to who? I am sure it does not consider displacing 10 million people from their homes, confiscating their land, and opress them continuously for 59+ years as an act of terror.

    I find it humerous :)

Only the civilized and rich terrorists get to define what terrorism means.. hahaha
