For a second-tier candidate, Mr. Robert Ghanem seems surprisingly well prepared.

He has made it to the top three “consensus candidates” list, if we are to believe the unnamed Lebanese official who told AFP that the Patriarch’s list, in addition to the political contenders, Harb, Lahoud & Aoun, includes Messrs Demianos Kattar, Joseph Tarabeih & Robert Ghanem.
I went on to check Mr. Ghanem’s website and was surprised at how polished it was. A bit too polished if you ask me, complete with pictures of him alongside world leaders and professionally shot portrait pictures (above) that are ready to replace that of Emile Lahoud.
What is the attraction of Mr. Ghanem? To get an idea, check the intro of his presidential program:
Based on the concept of responsible freedom, and feelings of duty, I call on everyone to take a moment to reflect on this vision, which I wanted to be comprehensive, and enter a profound and serious dialogue blessed by good intentions and sound will. This is so that we can arrive at strong convictions, adhere to them, and be guided by them in saving and resurrecting Lebanon, and preserving its rightful role and message in the world.
Too many flowers, no substance whatsoever. But that’s precisely the point. Could he be the next President? What do you think?

• I noticed a couple of days ago that Mr. Demianos Kattar’s name was buzzing around, so I tried to find out more..

Hello, my name is Mustapha and I've been blogging about Lebanese society, business and politics since February 2005.
“What do I think”? I think that we heard that Nasrallah sent his emissary to the Patriarch with the name of the Hezbollah candidate, so his name is certainly on the “list”. Look at the list and pick him out.
Hint – it’s not Aoun
PS – My opinion remains the same. The #1 choice for Syria/Iran/Hezbollah is General Suleiman, but he is not going to be a candidate without another “one time only” Constitutional Amendment, and the word is that will not happen. HA always has a plan B.
PPL Robert Ghanem symbolizes everything we should avoid in the next President! He is just a lot of FLUFF! Its all useless drivel, nonsense…call it what you want. Khalas…the day has come when we need a strong, firm president with a clear vision, clear policies and a clear agenda.
Its about time the Christians have a strong representative. I don’t mean to sound sectarian, but thats the reality. Only a strong President with a clear vision for the independence and freedom of Lebanon will preserve everyones right and will maintain Lebanons diversity.
I’m a Sunni and personally I’m ashamed that the Christians don’t get to choose someone that will be able to preserve and assert Lebanese independence.
This paragraph is so full of s****
Where did his secretary copy/paste that from? The Lebanese politicians’ year book?
m, we should blame the maronites for the situation. Let’s give Syria a break..lol
anybody except a Lebanese hawk is useless as president. Those fluffy birds are nothing but xmas tree ornaments and potential puppets subject to manipulation and intimidation. We need somebody to defuse the tensions and sway the country one way or another. Enough of canvasing the country!!
Ghanem is an empty suit.
Wife looks good though.
Fluff! I don’t thing he’s the guy….
Anybody can be a better President than Emile Lahoud…
Kheir,
Agreed, and you forget anybody, an old shoe would do a better job than Lahoud.
hahaha, that little blurb from the site made my day. Let’s see how my professors would react if I turned in such nonsense in my papers…
