Demianos Kattar Explained

Links

A fellow Lebanese blogger has a series on Demianos Kattar that is worth reading. It is basically a collection of Mr. Kattar’s take on 5 issues: The role of the young generation The role of Lebanon The Middle Class The Role of the Diaspora Traditional Politics and State Governance (Hat Tip Eliedh)

I’m not sure those are the most critical issues facing Lebanon (Hezbollah’s weapons? Israel? Election Law?), but the posts are a pretty good primer on the way the man thinks..

Wow, so he believes that the young are the future, Lebanon is multi-cultural, the middle class is important, the diaspora should help and good governance established.

Powerful stuff, obviously an original thinker Mr. Khattar. We are saved.

Is he the new Chibli Mallat?

I think he’s a good candidate but he’s a long shot. Especially with all of these different versions of the list (one has 3, the other has 6, another has 12 – and the one with 6 has 2 versions!) its kind of hard to find out his chances.

One thing is for sure. All of this March 8th vs. March 14th stuff aside, there has to be someone smart. Someone intellectual, who truly wants to help bring business to Lebanon, reform education, and help the poor. The need is for a MODERATE SMART candidate. And Kattar seems like a good choice.
