This appears to be where historians may draw a line and say, &quot;This is the point democracy died in Lebanon.&quot;  On the other hand, it may be a forgiveable ruse by the Patriarch, buying time to avoid the Grim Reaper who has claimed so many other Lebanese politicians in an untimely fashion.</description>
