Bad Vibel,
> What a novel concept!
> A candidate with an actual platform,
> that he makes available to the public.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but doing something after being elected is what matters. An "actual platform" before being elected is meaningless and all of the other candidates have one... Including Harb, Aoun and Ghanem.

Moustapha:
You wanna get all technical on me ? :-P
His site is using mootools for heaven's sake it cannot get ajaxier than that! With a cute little throbber on top of it, while the page works its little oh so shiny magic.
Let us see you beat that Mr. soooo web1.0 tayyar.org ...

Bad Vibel,:
> Did anyone even know who Camille Khoury
> was before they voted for him? Hah.

Hell NO, no one knew who was Camil Khoury before FPM presented him as their candidate! And it was about time. Doesn't it feel great when we start voting for a political party and its platform instead of "because we know the guy" ?
Well actually we know the guy at the head of the party but still I say that is an improvement. Hah. Right back at ya :-)

Oh and this just in, the google gods just <a href="http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/09/google-maps-covers-54-new-countries.html" rel="nofollow">released </a> higher resolution maps and imagery for Lebanon, all hail the satellites above. Meh. Off topic but probably more useful than my whole reply :-)

It is so sad that we are so happy that a Lebanese politician has a website. We have a long road ahead of us, never the less it is a start.

The real problem with the presidential race in Lebanon is that a March 14 candidate does not fit March 8's description of a consensus president, while Michel Aoun is forced upon March 14 as one.

I mean, regardless of the truth behind Aoun being the sole candidate for Mar. 8, Nabih Berri is relying of populist movement in support of Michel Aoun to repeat the scenario of 1988: The people want him and we support him.

Only Berri thinks that he's the only smart guy around, so that the unsuspecting Mar. 14 believe that he wants consensus. Most people have grown out of assuming good intentions from this guy.

Twekheznish ya Nabeih, enti kezzib.

W ma fi shi bi khallini ghayyer ra2yi; once a liar is always a liar.

Finally, I don't see why Nassib Lahoud or Riad Salemeh, or even demianos qattar cannot be consensus candidates, if they present the right agendas and show the willingness and ability to deliver.

Hey, at this point, a simple HTML page would be more than most other candidates have done to inform the public about their platform.

Did anyone even know who Camille Khoury was before they voted for him? Hah.

Tac,

Technically, the website is not web2.0 until he adds blogging, social bookmarking, RSS feeds, user generated content or an AJAX module. But it's web nevertheless and it's great.

What a novel concept! A candidate with an actual platform, that he makes available to the public.

It is a shame that what passes as norm in most of the civilized world is considered an aberration in Lebanon, where candidates come and go without ever making their platforms known to the public.

Hehehe a presidential candidate with a Web2.0 web side kamen, shou badna a7san min heik :-)

All in all, regardless of all the tension going on, I feel things seem great on the presidential front.

The top 2 pro government candidates and the only opposition candidate are all miles better that anything we've got lately. I am almost optimistic about the future no matter who wins.

Unfortunately there are still probably 1000 ways to mess things up, we'll have to wait and see.
