According to Lebanese newspapers Al-Anwar and Al-Akhbar, two American official sources (the States department spokesman and the American embassy in Beirut) rushed to counter Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley’s statements to Alhayat yesterday; the US, in fact, is against changing the constitution, they maintained.

Hello, my name is Mustapha and I blog in The Beirut Spring about Lebanese society and politics. I started in February 2005 after the killing of P.M. Rafik Hariri.

Exactly who owns this country(Lebanon)?
That’s a multiple choice, right? How many guesses do we get?
When groups like Hizb-Iran and Amal take orders from from Iran, it is Iran who owns “part” of Lebanon. When groups like Baath, SSNP, Wahab’s party (what is its name?) and Ittihad Al-Ishtiraki (Murad) take orders from Syria, it is Syria who owns “part” of Lebanon.
When the above groups put Lebanon first, it is the Lebanese people who own ALL Lebanon!
can anyone tell me what did abbas hesham mean regarding the “black army” and who did he refer to in his press conference after meeting sfeir
Fadi
“black army” refers to the Maronite clergy.
Later Abbas denied saying anything bad about the “black army”, but in Lebanon you can never sort these things out.
