If you thought that it couldn’t get worse for Lebanon, think again.

National Geographic: A disaster (Catastrophic earthquake of historic proportions+ Tsunami) is due “any day now” in Lebanon
Discovery Channel: A disaster similar to the earthquake and tsunami that on July 9, 551, destroyed most of the coastal cities of Phoenicia [..] could be due any day.
Apparently, it took Beirut 1300 years to recover from the previous similar earthquake. Even mother nature seems to be working against this miserable country..
But hey, we can always look at the bright side of things: Hezbollah’s tent city will drown and Seniora will be swept away from the Serail..

The beirut spring is a blog that is interested in Lebanese society and its politics. It started in February 2005 after the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri

Haha…
This isn’t a laughing matter but I can’t help but think that the only way to solving Lebanon’s problems is to have everything wiped out.
A new beginning. And since Latakia in Syria is also on the coast lets hope that the Syrian regime is also wiped out.

Shit, I live 100m from the coast!

Syria must be behind this one too..

Bright side gets even brighter.
It will not spare Israel either. :)

“At least four earthquakes similar to the A.D. 551 quake have occurred over the past 6,000 to 7,000 years, the team found—suggesting a 1,500- to 1,750-year recurrence time for destructive quakes.”
So, any day now, plus or minus 125 years. So make some contingency plans, monitor the seabed, and concentrate on more urgent problems…

More hate-mongering. How incredibly lame. They would probably offer to help you, too, if you were mature enough to accept it.

1900 to the present, earthquakes have taken hundreds of thousands of lives. China has suffered about 800,000 with 13 major incidents, and in Muslim dominated countries with 49 major incidents another 800,000+. 17 of the 49 incidents in Muslim dominated countries occurred in Iran with more than 148,000 deaths. Is Iran a really safe place for nuclear facilities?
Time lined, and due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia, more than 388,000 Muslims were taken since 9/11/01.
It would seem odd that there are predictions of earthquakes specifically “in divers places” in the New Testament of the Bible, but in fact that is where the major faults on Earth exist.

Don’t worry, it may not happen until next week.
Just remember that when you see the sea gpoing out a long way, it is time to run for the hills.
That famous picture by Hkusai, being Japanese, is to be read from right to left. In other words the wave is coming at you, not travelling with you. To get the full dramatic effect in English, flip the picture left-to-right.

The meditterranean might be doomed and all you care about is an already destroyed country. I’m more worried about Italy, Greece, Spain, South of France and Turkey being wipped out than shitty Lebanon, Syria and Israel. At least those other countries gave something to the world, what did we give to the world? Barazi’? Mhallabieh? the Kepah? Oh sorry, we gave the alphabet… (and we stopped giving after that!)

The silver lining of an earthquake in the Levant is that Israel, Lebanon, and Syria might give each other mutual assistance.
Some ice thawed between Greece & Turkey after the 1999 earthquakes.

I respect the achievements of Lebanese like Khalil Gibran, but I’m here to stick up for Israel.
Israelis have won their share of Nobel prizes. Israel is in the top ten of nations for patents per person. Israelis have developed agricultural techniques for dry-land farming that are now being emulated all over the world.
Obviously, Israel has not given Lebanon much of what is good, but that doesn’t mean that Israel and Israelis lack accomplishments.
