No more wailing women for Arab couch potatoes, give’em some flesh! (Hat Tip B.Iris)

(for non Arabic speakers, remember that Arabic is read from right to left, so the picture in the right frame is the first picture)
Hello, my name is Mustapha and I blog in The Beirut Spring about Lebanese society and politics. I started in February 2005 after the killing of P.M. Rafik Hariri.

Boobs not bombs will conquer the Arab world ;-)
to the zionist. OK, IN THAT CASE SEND US YOUR SISTERS, MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS.
Saaban, you’re so silly! Yours is a typical blinkered Arab response!
You Arabs are a sad, sad culture, whose conception of honor and rectitude is attached to the chastity (and submissiveness) of your womenfolk —rather than to your actions, accomplishments and contributions as human beings…. hence your response to The Zionist (which I suspect you meant to be insulting, and whose response, btw, I thought to be witty and spot on!!)
Rest assured Saaban, you’re one of the few stagnant cultures in human history whose worth depends on misogyny and female oppression. So, I seriously doubt that The Zionist was offended in the least by your silly response; a response which I’m sure is only a reflection of your own (and your culture’s menfolk’s) lecherousness, sexual deviance, frustration, and depravity. Hence your 70 (or is 72?) virgins in the sky!! One wonders, if sex is even possible in the “spiritual” afterlife??? (and I’m saying “spiritual” because I doubt you will be taking your rotten carcass with you to your silly heaven!)
Anyway, I concur with The Zionist; and judging form the Arab menfolks’ out-of-control debauchery and lewdness when they’re suddenly put in libertine contexts outside of the the false virtues of their blinkered societies, “BOOBS NOT BOMBS WILL” INDEED “CONQUER THE ARAB WORLD.” But I would add that the Arabs need to begin having orgasms in Arabic before reaching the path to liberation and liberty!
And speaking of orgasms, has anyone of you Arabic users had an orgasm in Arabic? (and by Arabic I mean MSA, not Egyptian or Palestinian etc..! Arabic, the pure untainted language of the Arabs and the vehicle of their glorious culture of browbeaters and tormentors!!!)
Louis-Noel, why don’t you move to Israel since you seem to hate arabs so much?
Fozi, you seem to have your head on backwards!
I agree with The Zionist therefore I hate Arabs?
I’m critical of the Arabs therefore I hate them?
Is this the kind of stunted logic you want to respond with?
It good to be critical Louis-Noel, but your criticism is rather destructive…
LOUIS-NOEL. DON’T GET UPSET. YOU CAN SEND YOUR MOTHER, SISTER, OR DAUGHTER. BUT I THINK YOU ARE BITTER BECAUSE WERE NOT INCLUDED IN
THE LIST . I AM SURE WE CAN FIND SOME ARAB WILLING TO RING YOUR BELL TOO.
Louis-Noel, you met your Arabic counterpart with Saaban; let me tell you Louis-Noel, right wing as well as left wing or religious extremisms are destructive. Life is neither white nor black, it is grey.
How would you know White without back? or Vice versa. Take a moment, and try to imagine white, stare at it long enough, and you’ll cease to notice it. We need Black And White, to know what each one is. Same goes for everything else in this world. You can’t know one with out the other. So if one disagrees with you, you should say Thank you. because of the other, we know what we are. :)
It is the Ying-Yang principle of life.
LOUIS-NOEL. DON’T GET UPSET. YOU CAN SEND YOUR MOTHER, SISTER, OR DAUGHTER TOO. BUT I THINK YOU ARE BITTER BECAUSE YOU WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE LIST . I AM SURE WE CAN FIND SOME ARAB WILLING TO RING YOUR BELL TOO.
ARABS DO NOT FORCE THEIR CULTURE ON THE WEST , ITS THE OTHER WAY AROUND.YOU ARE NOT THE ONE BEING PUT IN A GLASS ROOM AND STUDIED.YOU PEOPLE WANT THE REST OF THEWORLD TO ADHERE TO THEIR WAY OF LIVING OTHER WISE THEY ARE BACKWARDS.IF WE DISAGREE WITH YOUR POINT OF VIEW WE ARE TERRORISTS, IF YOU PEOPLE DECIDED TO GO LIVE ANY WERE IN THE WORLD, YOU WANT THE WORLD TO CHANGE TO YOUR WAY OF LIFE. IF YOU JUST TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF, AND LET THE PEOPLE LIVE AS THEY WISH, THE WORLD WOULD BE A MUCH MORE PEACEFUL ONE. I SAID THAT TO THE ZIONIST BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN READING HIS POSTS 4 A WHILE, THEY ARE FULL OF HATE AND DISRESPECT, ALTHOUGH THIS IS A LEBANESE SITE. I KNOW TO ZIONISTS AND YOU FOR THAT MATTER, HONOR IS A SECOND THOUGHT. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE YOUR SO CALLED FREEDOM, TO DO DRUGS,DRIVE YOUR S.U.Vs PAYING NOTHING FOR GAS,INVADE ANY COUNTRY THAT YOU DON’T LIKE,AND KEEP THE REST OF THE WORLD UNDER YOUR FOOT,YOU ARE HAPPY. WELL; DID YOU EVER THINK THAT MAYBE THAT IS HOW ARABS WANT TO LIVE, AND THESE ARE THEIR MORALS AND VALUES, AND MAYBE YOU SHOULD RESPECT THAT. ARABS ARE NOT TELLING YOU HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE. BUT A FEW OF THEM ARE CHOOSING HOW YOU DIE. I DON’T AGREE WITH VIOLENCE.REGARDLESS WHO COMMITS IT, AND I DON’T HATE YOU BECAUSE OF HOW YOU WANT TO LIVE.
I AM NOT A MUSLIM, NOR RELIGIOUS FOR THAT MATTER. ITS CLOSED MINDED PEOPLE THAT GET TO ME. I APOLOGIZE IF I OFFENDED ANYONE. THAT WAS NOT MY INTENTION. I THINK WE CAN ALL LIVE IN PEACE IF WE RESPECT EACH OTHER AND GIVE EACH OTHER ROOM TO BREATH.I LIVE IN THE WEST, AND HAVE MANY FRIENDS FROM ISRAEL, NONE OF THEM SHARE THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE ZIONIST.ITS PEOPLE LIKE HIM THAT FEED THE VIOLENT CYCLE. I SCOOPED DOWN TO HIS LEVEL, AND FOR THAT I AM SORRY.
Well said Saaban! Check his horrible website, he even insulted Riad Solh memory…for him, Lebanese are not Arabs, especially not the Christians and Muslim would be tolerated in Lebanon as long as they give up their identity and become docile.
Jester, Louis-Noel hates anybody who disagrees with him…Pierre Gemayel senior was a moderate compared to him.
Yes for the record Fozi, Lebanese are NOT Arabs! Let’s move on from this and accept the fact that half the population does not consider themselves Arabs. And what if we don’t? What is the big deal? We are proud of being Lebanese. Arabism is a useless concept. Be proud that one Lebanese can be Arab, and another can be phoenician. One Lebanese can be Christian and another can be Moslem. Embrace our diversity. Don’t blanket us with the Arab label. It is OFFENSIVE to me!
Saaban, let me ask you this: Should the Taliban have been left alone to be “who they are”? I am so happy the West doest turn a blind eye to Arab/Middle East oppression. The world cannot look the other way, while the Arabs are committing heinous crimes in the name of their religion or in the name of their culture!!
GUYS THERE IS A BOOK WRITTEN BY THE LATE EDWARD SAID. THAT BOOK TELLS OF HOW THE WEST VIEWS US. THE BOOK IS (ORIENTALISM). ITS A MUST READ FOR ANY ARAB,LEBANESE OR ANY OPEN MINDED PERSON FOR THAT MATTER.THE PROBLEM GOES WAY BACK, ITS ONLY NOW THAT IT IS BROUGHT OUT IN THE OPEN. AND THAT IS DUE TO THE CONFLICTS IN
OUR PART OF THE WORLD. THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO OUR CULTURE THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON KNOWS.
AND FOR NOEL DON’T BE ASHAMED THAT YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN ARAB. YOU ARE STILL AN ARAB WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. YOU CAN ALWAYS MOVE TO ISRAEL,CHANGE YOUR IDENTITY AND DISCOVER FREEDOM ISAELI ZIONIST STYLE. OR MAYBE YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND JUST ASK THE FALASHA TRIBE.
ONLY THROUGH EDUCATION ARE WE GOING TO GET THE RESPECT THAT WE DESERVE.
Imad, I am not an Arabist, I am as much Lebanese are you are. For your information 60% of the Lebanese are Muslims, and most of them consider themselves Arabs. And half of the Christians do, so that makes about 80%. About the Phoenician ancestry, give me a break. They got dissolved by the numerous invaders…and don’t forget that the Maronites came originally from Syria. By the way, why don’t you change your name to a Phoenician one? You are free to feel Phoenician since we are in a free country…
Fozi, I had an argument with LNH about our Identity a month ago, it ended up with insults. Let him say whatever he wants… Now let’s talk about Wawa, there is a nice clip on Utube

& check the La Youmal 07/09/07

There is a video about Haifa wehbeh ;)
look body boy( imad ). if 90% of the Afgani population want to live the Talibani way. yes why not.but if the talibani government wants to force their will on other nations, then no. oh yea and by the way i am sure that you are glad that the west didn’t turn a blind eye on saddam’s iraq. look how great that country is doing.sure soon the west will say those barbaric tribes in the jungles of Brasil
are a threat and should be taken care of. well if you don’t understand it,
kill it . if you don’t agree with it just kill it and the problem is over. the (Bush way) that works.
Religion is the cause of all that is evil.look at the history of the catholic church, the taliban, the crusade, alqaida. that made the world a better place don’t you think?.as 4 imad’s comment on being an
arab.you speak arabic, you cook arabic food, you read arabic, you smell arabic
then you are Arabic. as the American saying goes. if it looks like a rose, smells like rose, acts like rose then its a rose. end of story. (the word is not rose) i am sure you know what it is.
So I guess Americans because they speak English, read English, and smell English, they must therefore be Englishmen. Flawed logic!
As for the Taliban, I guess I would disagree with you. Even if 100% of the population agreed to live by a certain set of oppressive laws, I still believe in a certain set of basic human rights that are above and beyond any society. I believe there are certain rights that are God-given from the day you are born, and no law can overrule them.
Some examples that come to mind are ethnic cleansings (like the holocaust, darfour, kurds cleansing by Saddam, the women (and men to a certain extent) treatment by the Taliban)
Nobody *chooses* not to be free. If you lived in a jail all your life and you didn’t know that live outside of jail existed, then you would be inclined to think that you are a free man. The Taliban do give choice to their poeple. It is either, live by our rules, or be killed.
Imad, The US belongs to the Anglo-Saxon countries like Lebanon belongs to the Arab wold. Furthermore, there is strong cultural and religious ties with the Arabs as well as geographical proximity. We cannot turn our back on that Arab World though Lebanon has to remain independent like each Arab country since we have our own specificity, and don’t see the Arabs as a monolithic bloc, they also have their regional and national particularisms.
yes Imad . i live in the U.S and have been for the last 27 years. i am telling you first hand . just because you are not a Muslim, dose not change your ethnicity you can call yourself Greek or whatever to them you are an Arab.in the U.S the president can only be an Anglo Saxon. its an unspoken rule. look to what happened to the last president that was not(Kennedy). And here in the U.S being a Christian and from Lebanon, you are from an Arab country first then you are Christian. and don’t fool yourself, to them its the same rose split in half.after sept. 11 it didn’t matter whether you were Christian or whatever, if you had an Arabic name you were a suspect, and some people were prevented from flying on planes. (Edward said) was a christian, read his book, and then we can talk don’t be afraid of getting wiser.
then listen to this, for some that say we are not Arabs. Phoenicians WERE THERE 5 THOUSAND YEARS AGO, WAKE UP. a lot has changed. you want to go back 5 thousand years only, why don’t you go back further than that and decide what you want to be called.remember lebanon was controlled by the Ottoman empire for 5 hundred years, why not turks, or ma3niyeen. the country was in druze hands for 5 hundred years, why not druze. we have a commen culture with the Arabs, its only after the Frensh
split the country among religious groups that some had a voice. for all of you, The U.S and all the western world have the greatest national pride. Nationalisim is good for them but not anybody else.
For your information 60% of the Lebanese are Muslims
Fozi, by “Lebanese,” are you referring to all Lebanese or only those who reside in Lebanon? And are there any reliable statistics on Lebanese who live abroad, including religious breakdown and political views?
The second question is open to anyone. Thanks.
Ya Saaban,
Just because Americans or whoever is ignorant enough to label me Arab, that does not make me one. My own mother (god bless her heard) is ignorant enough to consider everyone from Asia to be Chinese
I define who I am and this what I am:
Nationality: Lebanese
Religion: Christian
Arabism is not my identity or my ethnicity. This concept does not apply to the Lebanese (Christians, and Muslims by the way) because of precisely what you described. We’ve been conquered and ruled by so many and we have influences from everyone that conquered us. The reason people are comfortable in associating with the Phoneticians is because they were the original settlers.
And by the way, the U.S. and the West at this point cannot be blamed for stereo typing Middle Eastern. We have earned this stereotype, so let’s not cry about being profiled at airports. Unless Middle Easterners and specifically Muslims actively engage in changing this stereotype then they have no one to blame but themselves.
whywesteppin,
You can dig for statistics but you will not find any. No census has been done in Lebanon since the 1940s. It is generally accepted the the country is 30% sunni, 30% shia, 30% christian, 10% Druze.
Of course every religioun wants to inflate their numbers a little so you will get different numbers depending who you ask.
Imad, thanks for the reply. The 30/30/30/10 breakdown is within +/- 10% of the numbers I hear.
But I wasn’t referring to those who live in Lebanon. I was referring to Lebanese who do not live in Lebanon. I realize that there are no specific numbers, but are there estimates at least? Wikipedia says the numbers are between 5 and 15 million but they say only 1.2 million of those have Lebanese citizenship (but I guess the rest could get citizenship if they tried hard enough?). Anyway, sorry for taking this post off topic.
To the one bragging about Edward Said’s useless ragsheet “Orientalism”, check out how Robert Irwin mopped the floor with Said the eloquent liar and called him on his dishonesty and the scurvy way he fudged and fabricated data to fit his spiteful politcal agenda.
Said was a crook and a barefaced liar to put it mildly. Read the following links if you dare, and find out how the pitiful Said got it EXACTLY wrong, every time. By the way, Kanan Makiya and Sadiq Jalal al-Azm debunked Said and revealed him to be the impostor that he was TWO decades ago.
You guys, who want to force your provincial conception of Lebanese identity on others, you are truly pathetic and I doubt that you can read an opposing view, let alone debate it with civility. But for what it’s worth, here are some links that might enlighten the twilight of your minds:

Saaban, I have a lot of admiration for you, when I defended the Arab identity of Lebanon, some people read by Arab=Muslim because of my name. Here you are, a Lebanese-American confirming what I said many times on this blog. I met in May in Montreal Dr. James Zoghby, who has no shame to be an Arab like former Senator James Abou-Rizk.
Thank you :)
Mr. Kheireddine, Lebanon is Arab as Ireland, Scotland Wales and Ghanna are British! The wacked out logic of those who speak into this sort of echo chamber is that if I “speak Arabic, cook arabic, read arabic, smell arabic”, then I must be Arabic. This is as silly as saying that Scots and Irishmen who speak and read English, drink lukewarm lager, and eat mushy pies are Brittons. C’mon guys! There’s more to identity than food, language and smell! By the way, Lebanese food is Lebanese not Arabic— show me the wheat fields and vineyards of Arabia and I’ll show you Arabic wine, bread, wine, hummus, falafel (Egyptian btw) and tabbouli. Also, the Lebanese use Arabic, Lebanese, and half a dozen other languages; Arabic came to Lebanon on the heels of conquering armies, it is not a language indigenous to Lebanon, just like English is not a language indigenous to Ireland, and just like French is not indigenous to West and North Africa, the Carribean, and Polenesia!
Believe it or not, conquest, colonialism, cultural suppression, and yes genocide, did happen in Arabic. You guys are not the innocent victims of Western rapacity and Western colonialism as you like to paint yourselves. You were brutal imperialistic colonials in your own right when you were still able to flex your muscles, and if given the opportunity you are quite capable of unleashing your cultural hubris on others just like in the olden days. Spare us the phony Arab=Victims, West=Imperialists complaints. Arabs did not spread in a vacuum fellas. They beat down, bruised, and trampled pre-existing cultures and civilizations like other thugs and conquerors in history. To argue like Fozi and Saaban that the pre-existing civilizations of the Levant “got dissolved by the numerous invaders…” (read Arabs) or that the Phoenicians came “5 thousand years ago, wake up, a lot has changed” is simply pompous and misleading. It’s like arguing that the native Americans who adopted the languages and the ways of European invaders were “5 thousand years ago, and got dissolved.” We call this sort of attitude in Anthropology 101
“cultural suppression” and “colonial arrogance”; also known as totalitarianism in political science.
Grow up boys, and stop trying to force your Arabity on those of us who see ourselves in different terms distinct from provincial and restrictive absolutisms. With arguments like these, you sound no better than the two-bit bullies of elementary schoolyards.
With regards to Zoghby and Abu Rizk, Mr. Kheireddine, may God bless your heart and theirs! If this is how you and they view yourselves, then power to all of you and God’s speed. Unfortunately that’s not how a significant component of the Lebanese view themselves, and you, Zoghby, and Abu Rizk, your towering intellects and noble blood notwithstanding, do not speak for Lebanon or the Lebanese. You certainly do not speak for THIS Lebanese.
Skim through the acrymony that this post has generated and you’ll see that at best there is still lots of discord and tension on the issue of Lebanon’s identity, and it’s still a question that arouses lots of passions and apprehensions. Like Imad said, why not accept and celebrate our congenital diversity and move on?
You can’t force me to be an Arab if that is not how I see myself, regardless of what I eat or what I speak, and regardless of the color of my skin and hair and the Gods to whom I pray! And by the same token, I cannot convince you that Lebanon’s cultural references go much deeper in history than a mere 14 centuries ago if history in your eyes began just 14 centuries ago. But at the same time I have to ask you this: why is diversity such an abomination to you guys, and why is pre-Arab conquest history so irrelevant to your worldview?
You are talking nonsense Leila…you are free to have your own opinion as much as most of the Lebanese are free feel as part of the Arabic world…
kheireddine, I think you, LNH, Leila, and I are in agreement that we should be free to identify ourselves as anything as long as we consider ourselves Lebanese somewhere in there. The problem we have is with statements like, “You are still an Arab whether you like it or not.” You disagree with that, correct? The only statement we should all agree with is, “You are still Lebanese whether you like it or not,” correct?
Mustapha, some guests might ask you to remove most of the newspapers from the newsstand because they are in Arabic and that is a sign of colonialism ;) Don’t you have some Aramaic or Assyrian or Phoenincian newspapers? Maybe Byzantine newspapers? Anything but Arabic…They might also ask you to change your name to Stéphane or Steve and after banning Arabic, they might ban Islam from Lebanon…
whywesteppin I am fed up from this nonsense, to tell you the truth, I am hopeless about the future. The day an international decision would come to dismantle Lebanon and give it away to Syria and Israel, you and I won’t be able to do much…
Hey the WAWA is more meaningful than what I thought, it created quite a stir!
LNH, for your information, I read your comments on Lisa Goldman’s blog, all I can say, shame on you. From now on, I don’t want you to comment on me or mention my name anywhere, undrestood?
Oh, blow it out your arse Kheir! I rarely visit Lebanon anymore because it’s littered with obsolete old farts like you so full of their sorry selves that they think the world around them is a universe of groveling Sri-Lankans that they can order and yank around at will!
Spare me your phony righteousness, puhlleeeze; I swat your kind by the dozens everyday every year from late July to mid-August; and let your family flacks know if you wish; I arrive at Beirut International Airport on the 29th of July (AF566 from CDG @ 2:00pm Beirut local time.) Nothing gives me more pleasure than bitchslapping senile feudal retards of your ilk.
And BTW, Kheir, I doubt that any Lebanese worth her/his salt would be in the least offended by Mustapha’s Arabic news sourcing; I for one move with the elegance of a Phoenician between Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Lebanese! True Lebanese don’t practice cultural and linguistic obscurantism my friend; we leave this silly bent to the insecure stunted peddlers of Arabism!
(Euh, btw, how does it feel to be debunked by a 21-year-old, and a girl to boot?? That girl was on fire, man, and all you could tell her was “you’re talking nonesense”? ha ha!)
yalla ciao babe!
moooouah, muchas smoochas!
To the contributors in this thread:
Stadhein, Vo, Hallsted, Bagheri, Bold, Escobar, Yang, Sachs, Markowitz, Dean, Katz, Cohen, Weisbaum, Green, Serrano, Felt. These are the last names of the current residents on a small cul-de-sac in America. We come together here from many different places. We live together on this street peacefully. From time to time an old neighbor moves out and a new neighbor moves into one of the sixteen homes. Still, no problem among neighbors on this street, whatever name or family history.
We coexist as individuals, agreeing to disagree—and that is American.
Who cares what ethnicity you call yourself or what creed you follow—tribalism and sectarianism are not your friends by any name.
Fozi,
Imad, The US belongs to the Anglo-Saxon countries like Lebanon belongs to the Arab wold.
Only about 60% of Americans are European whites. Less than half of those are Anglo-Saxon. US is an Anglo-Saxon country by tradition, only, and it becomes less so every year. Anglo-Saxons are still the largest single group of people, but Hispanics are gaining fast and will outnumber Anglos within a decade, if not sooner. It’s been a hundred years since the US was an Anglo-Saxon majority country.
And besides, your comparison isn’t apt. Every group of people in the US has their own self-identification, we don’t try to impose an Anglo-Saxon identity on anybody.
Sabban,
in the U.S the president can only be an Anglo Saxon. its an unspoken rule.
look to what happened to the last president that was not(Kennedy).
Nonsense. I suspect the Bush family is not Anglo-Saxon, though they are probably some sort of German (Busch) - they certainly don’t look Anglo. The best Presidents of the 20th century were non Anglo-Saxon : Franklin Delano Roosevelt was Dutch, Ronald Reagan was Irish, and John F Kennedy was Irish Catholic. Kennedy is known as the first and only (I think) Catholic US President.
What the hell does all this have to do with tits and ass, anyway?
Hey JAS, might the Katzs and Cohens of your street be related? I’m interested in finding out ;)
Katz is actually an acronym of 2 patronyms (usually reserved for priestly families, and dates back to before the Rabbinic period)… It’s an amalgamation of Kohen (which means “priest”, hence “Cohen”) and Tsadik (which means reverent/righteous”).
Saaban @ 2:
“to the zionist. OK, IN THAT CASE SEND US YOUR SISTERS, MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS.”
I think you will be the first to scream that this guy or that guy is a Zionist Boob puppet.
I am sure entire World will be willing to help you but first you will need to show some effort and try your own local boobs.
Only if this does not work out then ask for help. You need to learn how to stop whining and start working.
LNH and Leila - Bravo, couldn’t have said it any better!
Like most of the Lebanese, I will always consider myself as an Arab as well. Leb Christan, you can beleive whatever you want, I just hope you don’t approve the insulting language that was uttered against me previously.
Thank you
“Like most of the Lebanese”?? Any source to your delusional “estimates” Kheir? I know I can always count on you for a good laugh ;)
fyi, most of the Lebanese I know consider themselves Lebanese Kheir, NOT Arab!
btw, stop your petulent crybaby antics already! I thought you were double my age! One can hardly tell listening to you whimper and whine to everyone and his sister about the obscene LNH and his slandering Les Ahdabs de Beyrouth, 2ou3a l-ba7sa!!. Grow the fuck up already! Or better yet, send your family ruffians after me when I get to BIA; you have my itinerary already (and to sweeten the deal for ya, I’m traveling with a French passport and will be more than happy to give you my passport number.)
pffft!
LNH, get the f…of my back. Obviously you are lunatic. Hell aan tizeh wlah! Fhemt chou?
Kheir, are you taking something for Alzheimer’s ;) Just looking after you ya man.
love ya babe!
Kheir, are you taking something for Alzheimer’s ;) Just looking after you old man.
love ya babe!
Yalla, à plusse!
to ms Ahmad. i am sure your last name originated in Switzerland. and quoting orentalists as a source of info gives you a lot credibility.
Wow Mustapha…this one got some attention. Too bad most of the comments were made by infants.
Imagine, 50 yrs after the whole concept of “arabism” went into a giant file 13 laying right next to that equally giant ass Nasser a new crop of morons have awoke. They are also well armed with reems and reems of meaningless stats…TUZ!
Thank you Leila for making kibbeh out of them…maybe one day they will all wake up and realisse that the identity of Lebanon and the lebanese is more than empty slogans from empty politicians and their lap dogs and make up artist like Mr. Edward Said and that giant eir James Zoghby.
Ayesh Lubnan!
Saaban my love, what’s worse than a cretin is a pedantic cretin! And that goes to Kheir as well.
As to Miss Ahmad’s name, I am sure it is Arabic (I don’t know what your insinuation might be), but then again so are Arabic the names of
a) the Turkish Mustapha Kamal (Ataturk)
b) the Iranian Mahmoud Ahmadi Najad
c) the Afghani Hamid Karza’i
d) the Albanian Muhamad Ali (the Pasha of Egypt.)
Are they next on your Arabization “forçage” plans?
Might I suggest you guys tried to unite the already existing (fractious and incoherent) Arabs before forcing your irresolute identity on others???
Shunkleach, you obviously like the others don’t understand the concept that on can feel Arab without being an Arabist; ie, without wanting the union of all Arab states in one country. Unfortunatly for you, whether you like it or not, you are surrounded by Arabs & Muslims, people you must hate the most. Your reaction is typical minority paranoia. …So I let you rant & fume as much as you want…you are not important.
